Neynar Co-founder Elaborates on the Farcaster Vision: Creating a "Builder-First" Network, Empowering Builders from Idea to Sustainable Income

2026.01.24 22:00:13

On January 24, Neynar co-founder Rishav Mukherji published a post outlining Farcaster’s vision: Neynar will maintain the Farcaster protocol, operate the Farcaster client, and oversee Clanker’s operations. Some members of the Clanker team will join Neynar. A longstanding key infrastructure provider for the Farcaster ecosystem, Neynar’s integration represents a natural evolution after years of deep community engagement. The vision is to enable builders to turn ideas into sustainable revenue, creating a "builder-first" network. Farcaster’s core value lies in its longstanding builder community—this group has driven key innovations like Frames, Degen, and Warpcast. Farcaster’s value stems not just from its product, but from the people who experiment, share knowledge, and build openly. Neynar’s acquisition of Farcaster is rooted in the core mission of simplifying software development. At the product level, there will be no major changes to Farcaster, Neynar, or Clanker—rumors of protocol or client shutdowns are false. The Neynar developer platform will remain operational, and financial/transaction-related features will stay unchanged. The next phase will focus on evaluating product priorities, advancing the roadmap gradually while preserving network openness. As barriers to software development continue to fall, paired with a native crypto finance track and open distribution mechanism, Farcaster is positioned to become a key starting point for creators and developers to experiment, collaborate, and scale.
