Replit CEO predicts that by 2030, all Fortune 500 companies will be "self-driving", with humans responsible for decision-making.

Beating AI Express News: Replit founder Amjad Masad predicts that by the end of 2030, all Fortune 500 companies will become "autonomous driving companies". Under this model, humans are responsible for setting goals and making key decisions, while AI Agents handle specific execution and coordination tasks. Replit has launched Replit for Business to promote this model to more enterprises, and the company itself has already put it into practice. In the first half of 2026, Replit’s engineers’ code output nearly tripled from previous levels, while code review time, rollback frequency, and production incident counts remained roughly unchanged. Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing also disclosed that a development process originally requiring 6 people to complete in 6 months is now finished by 1 person in one week. As Agents begin executing actual business operations, enterprises face new challenges in permission management. Currently, many Agents run on employees’ personal accounts, chat windows, or temporary scripts, may directly hold internal system credentials, and lack unified permission control and operation records. Replit’s proposed Agent Habitat aims to centrally manage these Agents, limit data access scope, require manual approvals for sensitive operations, and retain execution logs. a16z co-founder Marc Andreessen subsequently published a long essay supporting this direction. He compared the popularization of Agents to the adoption of personal computers and spreadsheets in enterprises in the past: employees first adopted such tools on their own, followed by issues with data management, auditing, and security, after which enterprises gradually established unified rules. He argued that enterprises should not simply ban employees from using Agents, but instead build a management system that accommodates this new working method.
