Reuters: Millennium Management plans to raise a record $20 billion, betting the AI rally will continue.

According to Reuters, Millennium Management—one of the world’s largest multi-strategy hedge funds—is in discussions to raise roughly $20 billion in new capital, a sum far exceeding its initial target and poised to become the firm’s largest fundraising round in history. The fundraising will be executed in two phases, and Millennium also plans to reallocate capital managed by external fund managers through trade swaps, a task overseen by President Ajay Nagpal. Citing a Goldman Sachs report, Reuters noted that the hedge fund industry is on track for another strong year fueled by the AI boom. In the first half of 2026, all major hedge fund strategies posted net capital inflows for the first time in five years, with quantitative funds and multi-strategy funds attracting particularly robust inflows. Millennium delivered a 10.5% return in 2025 and currently holds assets under management (AUM) of over $92 billion.

Data: Retail investors' daily net selling volume of individual stocks hits a new high since the 2020 pandemic, as funds shift to ETFs for hedging.

According to data from Vanda Research, retail investors logged the largest single-day net sell-off of individual stocks since the COVID-19 pandemic-triggered market crash in March 2020 on Tuesday. However, funds did not exit the stock market; instead, they simultaneously net purchased the Roundhill Memory ETF, signaling investors are shifting from individual stocks to ETF allocations to mitigate risk. Viraj Patel, global macro strategist at Vanda Research, noted that this record net sell-off was concentrated in a small number of individual stocks rather than a broad capital outflow from the overall market, reflecting that current retail investors are growing more cautious and selective rather than turning bearish on the market as a whole.
