The U.S. Treasury Department raised $839 billion through its Treasury bond auctions this week, hitting a new all-time high.

This week, the U.S. government raised $839 billion through Treasury bill and bond issuances, hitting an all-time high. The move is aimed both at repaying maturing debt and securing additional funds needed for federal deficit financing. Auctions held this week for Treasury bills, floating-rate notes, and 2-year, 5-year, and 7-year Treasury securities exceeded the $834 billion record set in the same period last year. The $839 billion total covers 11 auctions, most of which go toward repaying principal to holders of maturing Treasury bills. Only $106 billion of this sum constitutes the U.S. government’s "new borrowing", far from historical highs. The previous peak occurred in March and April 2020, when Treasury auctions surged to raise funds for pandemic response, with weekly net new cash reaching a near $362 billion high. Tony Farren, head of interest rate sales and trading at Mischler Financial Group, said: "The Treasury’s weekly total debt issuance hitting an all-time high is by no means a good thing. The biggest risk is that investors may demand higher yields."

Two US brothers who robbed over $8 million in crypto assets at gunpoint were sentenced to 15 years and 15 and a half years in prison respectively.

According to a notice from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota, Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia were sentenced to 180 months (15 years) and 186 months (15 and a half years) in prison respectively on October 29 for their involvement in an armed kidnapping and cryptocurrency robbery case. Per court documents, the two traveled from Texas to Minnesota on September 19, 2025, where they kidnapped a victim’s family at gunpoint, bound them with zip ties, held them at gunpoint for over nine hours, and demanded the victim surrender assets from their crypto accounts. When the transferred amount fell short of their expectation, the pair forced the victim to drive one of them to a separate cabin to retrieve additional crypto storage devices and transfer funds, ultimately stealing over $8 million in crypto assets. After the victim’s son dialed 911, the two fled the scene and were later arrested near Houston. The pair had previously pleaded guilty on June 18, and the case was jointly investigated by the FBI and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Intel's earnings trigger a tech stock sell-off, the semiconductor sector falls across the board, and INTC plummets 30%.

Intel’s underwhelming earnings and weak outlook, combined with Amazon’s missed earnings targets, have reignited market concerns about artificial intelligence (AI) investment transactions, leading to a broad sell-off in semiconductor stocks. The sell-off spread across the entire semiconductor sector, hitting chip equipment makers, wafer foundries, and analog chip suppliers alike. According to data from BIT Stock Platform, Broadcom’s stock fell around 4% at the opening of Friday’s regular trading session, AMD plummeted nearly 10%, and Micron Technology dropped 5.5%. Intel’s stock plunged 30% on Friday, on track to mark its largest single-day decline on record, with its market value erasing around $120 billion. Nvidia fell 3.3%, pushing its total market capitalization below $5 trillion. Wafer fab equipment makers also saw sharp declines: Applied Materials dropped nearly 5%, Lam Research fell 5.5%. The sector is highly sensitive to chipmakers’ capital expenditure plans, with equipment suppliers typically bearing the brunt when chip firms cut spending on memory and logic chips. Meanwhile, Qualcomm’s stock also weakened alongside the broader wireless communications and mobile phone sectors. Markets are concerned about soft enterprise hardware demand and a bottleneck in smartphone demand. (Jin10)

Aave has fully unfrozen its V3 and V4 markets, with contracts unaffected by the Binance security incident.

Aave has issued an update on its post-Binance incident handling progress, stating that all markets for Aave V3 and V4 have been unfrozen. Analyst: Binance's major token reserves saw relatively limited declines following the exchange's hack, with BTC reserves dropping 3.1%

Crypto analyst Darkfost said in a post that after Binance suffered a $6.3 billion asset theft, its major token reserves saw a relatively limited decline on the day. He noted that despite the attack’s massive scale, reserve changes indicate the platform still has the ability to absorb the impact and minimize harm to users. Per his tracking, within the relevant block range, Binance outflowed 18,279 BTC, 185 million XRP, and $1.67 billion worth of USDT. ETH was withdrawn in two batches: 167,464 and 79,376, totaling 246,840 ETH. Daily reserve changes show: BTC reserves dropped 3.1% to over 682,000; ETH reserves fell 8.5% to 3.3 million; XRP reserves decreased 8% to 2.47 billion; USDT reserves fell 6.3% to 34.1 billion. Darkfost concluded that the impact on the platform’s reserves was relatively limited, and the effect on users appeared minor. On asset freezing, roughly $3 billion in assets have been frozen, including $1.567 billion in USDT and over $800 million in USDC. Binance also pledged to cover losses via its SAFU fund and corporate reserves.
