Seagate Technology released its first-quarter fiscal 2027 financial results for the period ended October 2, 2026, reporting revenue of $4.23 billion, up roughly 61% year-over-year and beating analyst expectations of $4.11 billion. Adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $7.68, exceeding the forecast of $7.39. AI infrastructure development continues to drive demand for the company’s data storage products, with margins improving notably. The first quarter’s GAAP gross margin rose to 57.3% from 39.4% in the year-ago period; non-GAAP gross margin climbed to 57.8% from 40.1%, while non-GAAP operating margin jumped to 50.7% from 29.0%. Cost of revenue grew only around 13% year-over-year, lower than the revenue growth rate. On the cash flow front, quarterly operating cash flow hit $1.69 billion, and free cash flow reached $1.479 billion, up roughly 246% year-over-year. Both gross margin and free cash flow set new record highs, and the company raised its quarterly dividend by approximately 3% to $0.76 per share. Seagate projects its second fiscal quarter revenue will be $4.8 billion (with a range of plus or minus $100 million), and adjusted EPS of $9.20 (plus or minus $0.20), both higher than prior analyst estimates of $4.55 billion in revenue and $8.66 in EPS. CEO Dave Mosley stated: “Data creation, retention, and reuse continue to drive storage demand growth, and visibility into long-term customer demand supports our judgment of a multi-year growth cycle. Our Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology roadmap will meet growing storage needs by increasing hard disk areal density while maintaining supply discipline.” Despite the better-than-expected results and second-quarter guidance, Seagate’s stock fell more than 8% in after-hours trading, according to data from BIT Stock Platform. The stock closed regular trading at $667.85 on the day, with a year-to-date gain of nearly 150%.

Robinhood’s third-quarter earnings missed market expectations, as slowing crypto trading and rising expenses overshadowed strong performance in its options and prediction markets businesses. The company reported earnings per share (EPS) of $0.51, below the $0.55 consensus analyst estimate compiled by LSEG, with shares falling more than 7% in after-hours trading. In the third quarter, Robinhood’s crypto trading revenue dropped 55% year-over-year to $120 million. However, options trading revenue rose 31%, and event contract revenue surged more than sixfold, driving overall trading revenue up around 19% year-over-year to $867 million. Meanwhile, the company’s quarterly operating expenses increased 16% year-over-year to $739 million, driven primarily by higher credit loss provisions, investments in new businesses such as Trump Accounts and Rothera, and rising marketing spending. Robinhood CFO Shiv Verma said prediction markets, which have generated annualized revenue of nearly $500 million in less than two years since launch, are a key growth driver for the firm. Both sports and non-sports event contracts saw strong growth, with non-sports contracts accounting for a larger share of total trading volume. Bill Birmingham, head of research at REX Financial, noted that revenue growth lags behind contract volume growth, indicating that growth is increasingly concentrated in a small number of areas. He added: “Prediction markets are becoming a second trading channel for the same core active traders, rather than an entry point to attract new customers.” Some of the trading volume may stem from shifts in existing trading activities rather than new business.

According to Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the matter, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is again investigating Polymarket for potential violations of its 2022 settlement agreement, focusing on whether the platform has taken sufficient measures to block U.S. users from accessing its overseas main platform. The agency previously closed a similar probe in 2025 without filing charges. This latest review is part of a broader investigation launched by the CFTC earlier this year, covering Polymarket’s controls for verifying customer locations and its U.S. advertising campaigns. One source said the review centers on the company’s past controls and processes. The CFTC is also examining Polymarket’s customer onboarding procedures and consumer protection measures for its U.S. platform. Under the 2022 settlement, Polymarket agreed to stop serving U.S. users. In 2024, the CFTC and the U.S. Department of Justice launched separate related probes, and the FBI searched CEO Shayne Coplan’s New York residence that November. In July 2025, Coplan announced both investigations had concluded. Afterward, the company acquired a CFTC-licensed derivatives exchange and gradually rolled out its U.S. platform by the end of that year. Polymarket has previously stated it has improved its controls, explicitly prohibiting users from using tools like VPNs to bypass geographic restrictions, and has mechanisms to monitor misconduct and block restricted users from accessing its overseas platform. In April this year, U.S. prosecutors charged a service member with using insider information to place bets on Polymarket’s overseas platform, profiting $400,000; the indictment alleged he used a VPN to bypass restrictions. The defendant has denied the charges, and Polymarket said at the time it had referred the matter to relevant authorities.

SK Hynix (SKHY) posted third-quarter revenue of 104.6 trillion Korean won, above the market consensus of 98.3 trillion won. The company’s Q3 net profit stood at 39.5 trillion won, missing the market forecast of 55.4 trillion won, while operating profit hit 83.3 trillion won, beating the 76.7 trillion won expectation.
