Slow Mist's Cosine: Strongly related cases to the Ledger hardware implant incident involve the Flex model.

2026.10.12 08:17:57

Cosine, founder of SlowMist, stated that among the closely related cases of the Ledger hardware implant attack his team is tracking, one involves the Ledger Flex model. The industry is widely aware of issues related to the Ledger Nano X, and it is speculated that Ledger’s mainstream product line may have been tampered with at its dealer CryptoBills (also referred to as CryptoBilis). Ledger has now confirmed that malicious hardware modules were implanted into devices at its authorized Southeast Asian dealer CryptoBilis, resulting in theft of numerous users’ assets. The company has ordered the dealer to suspend sales and advised affected users to transfer their assets promptly.

CZ: I thank the FBI, U.S. Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies for their assistance in tracking and freezing Binance’s stolen funds.

CZ stated in a post that U.S. law enforcement agencies provided critical support during the Binance security incident, including tracking and freezing stolen assets. Participating agencies include the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Secret Service (USSS), and Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI), among others. CZ added that a single tweet was insufficient to fully convey his gratitude to law enforcement, noting that some crypto market participants may not realize Bitcoin’s lack of a steeper price drop after the incident is also attributable to these agencies.

Binance has now resumed withdrawals, with the initial batch covering assets including BTC, ETH, BNB, and others.

Binance today resumed Phase 1 withdrawal services from 14:00 to 17:00 UTC (06:00 to 09:00 UTC), with the first batch supporting networks and assets including BTC, ETH, BNB, TRX, SOL, XRP, ZEC, DOGE, TON, POL, AVAX, ARB, BASE, OP, and SUI. Deposit services remain open and were not affected by the incident. The exchange stated that the withdrawal resumption will be phased: specific assets and networks are prioritized based on user demand data from the past week, and will be rolled out gradually after security and stability checks are completed. Other networks and assets will be restored sequentially once ready. Due to high initial traffic, some users may face withdrawal delays or failures and are advised to retry later. Binance has now covered approximately 95% of the affected amount from the recent hack, an increase from the previously announced 90%. The remaining ~5% consists of tokens outside the top 10 assets. Owing to their low market liquidity, Binance is still procuring these via market and over-the-counter (OTC) channels, with more time needed to reach the required size.

Binance: Approximately 95% of the losses from this theft incident have been covered, while the remaining 5% is still being procured.

Binance has released an update on the security incident, stating that it has covered approximately 95% of the affected funds from the theft, an increase from the previously announced 90%. The remaining ~5% consists of tokens outside the top ten assets. Due to low market liquidity, Binance is still procuring these tokens via the open market and over-the-counter (OTC) channels, and more time is needed to reach the required scale. Binance also noted that user balances of BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD, and ZEC have achieved 100% reserve coverage, and users can verify this via the Proof of Reserves (PoR) page. Binance reiterated that it will bear all financial losses resulting from the stolen funds and will not pass the losses on to users. Once the investigation is completed, the platform will also release a post-incident review report to disclose more details.
