A British man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for his involvement in a SIM swap scam, and is charged with stealing $265,000 worth of cryptocurrency.

London-based robotics spin-off Machenta from Imperial College London has closed a $40 million seed funding round co-led by Creandum and Union Square Ventures. This is reportedly the largest seed round ever for a UK robotics company. The firm emerged from stealth mode this week, has a team of around 10 members, and currently has no commercial products on the market. Founded by Imperial’s Robotics Learning Lab Professor Edward Johns and his PhD student Vitalis Vosylius, Machenta’s base model is fully pre-trained in a simulated environment, eliminating the need for real-world demonstration data. Post-deployment, the robot only requires one demonstration to carry out new physical tasks such as packing and organizing. The capital will be used to scale the model and expand the team based in London’s King’s Cross area.

Corridor, which raised $25 million in funding in March this year at a $200 million valuation, specializes in addressing security risks from AI-generated code. Unlike traditional post-hoc vulnerability scanning, Corridor integrates directly with coding tools including Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex to inspect security risks as AI generates code, and can even block the merging of code with critical vulnerabilities. Its clients include LangChain, Lovable, and ElevenLabs. This acquisition has been in the works for some time. On September 29, Cognition hired Alex Stamos – former head of security at Corridor and ex-Facebook chief security officer – to lead its security operations. On October 26, it upgraded Devin Security, integrating cutting-edge security models such as Claude Mythos.
