Anthropic launches Claude Haiku 5.5: Price slashed by 90%, outperforms GPT-6 Luna in multiple benchmarks.

Beating AI Express: Insights – Anthropic has launched its new lightweight model, Claude Haiku 5.5, focusing on low cost, high speed, and agent tasks. Compared to Haiku 4.5, the new model delivers significant improvements in programming, computer operation, and professional knowledge tasks, with some benchmarks outperforming GPT-6 Luna. Anthropic states this is its fastest and most capable small model to date. Official tests show Haiku 5.5 scored 72.4% in the OSWorld 2.1 computer operation benchmark, higher than GPT-6 Luna’s 48.9% and the previous Haiku 4.5’s 15.7%. In the GDPval-AA professional work benchmark, the new model earned 1620 points, also exceeding GPT-6 Luna’s 1437. Programming capabilities improved notably too: in Terminal-Bench 4.0, it rose from 0% (the prior generation) to 39.2%, surpassing GPT-6 Luna’s 16.4%. Price cuts are steeper. For requests with no more than 100,000 tokens, Haiku 5.5 charges $0.1 per million input tokens and $0.5 per million output tokens, both down 90% from the previous version. Longer requests are priced at $0.5 per million input tokens and $2.5 per million output tokens. Factoring in real-world task token consumption variations, Anthropic estimates average operating costs have dropped roughly 75%. Haiku 5.5 also adds adjustable inference strength for the first time in the Haiku line, letting developers balance performance and cost. The model is now available via Claude API, AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, suited for batch summarization, information retrieval, browser operations, and executing subtasks for large coding agents.

Microsoft is transforming Windows into an agent workbench, enabling AI to directly operate computers while reducing token consumption.

Beating AI Insight News Flash: Microsoft has unveiled Windows' "hybrid intelligence" initiative, which will enable AI Agents to execute tasks directly on personal computers. Once authorized, Copilot can access local files and recent activity, organize documents, troubleshoot issues, and write code. In a Microsoft demo, the AI automatically gathered tax filing materials, renamed files, packaged attachments, and drafted an email to send to accountants. The core of this solution lies in the collaboration between on-device AI and cloud AI: Copilot takes charge of task reception, while Windows provides access to files and operational capabilities. Some tasks can be handled by the on-device model, reducing cloud token consumption and keeping sensitive data local. For tasks requiring stronger reasoning capabilities, the cloud model will be called in. To support on-device operation, Microsoft has compressed the 137-billion-parameter programming model MAI Code 1.1 Flash to 53GB, enabling it to run on high-performance PCs equipped with RTX Spark. GitHub Copilot will also automatically select between on-device and cloud models via HydraFusion, eliminating the need for paid cloud inference for certain coding tasks. Microsoft has also launched the MXC security sandbox, which restricts the files and networks that Agents can access to prevent unauthorized operations. MXC is now officially available. New capabilities for Copilot, such as local file access and PC operation execution, will roll out to Copilot+ PCs over the coming months.

Sky Protocol has become the first stablecoin protocol to receive a rating from Moody’s, managing approximately $10 billion in assets while holding just $90 million in equity.

Decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol Sky Protocol has been assigned a B3 long-term counterparty risk rating by credit rating agency Moody’s, with a stable outlook. This marks Moody’s first ever rating of a stablecoin protocol. As of September, Sky Protocol held roughly $90 million in tangible common equity, corresponding to approximately $100 billion in tangible assets under management. Moody’s labeled its capital position a “major credit weakness”. Formerly known as MakerDAO, Sky Protocol manages the USDS and DAI stablecoins, both pegged to the U.S. dollar. Moody’s noted that around 45% to 50% of Sky Protocol’s assets consist of stablecoins and tokenized money market funds, with an additional ~25% being crypto-collateralized loans. Its rating is also constrained by risks related to low capital adequacy, confidence-sensitive stablecoin liabilities, and its DAO structure. (Bitcoin.com News)
