Injective releases new whitepaper, focusing on institutional-grade finance and tokenization.

Injective has released a new version of its whitepaper, marking the first full rewrite since the original launch in December 2018. The initial whitepaper centered on a front-running-resistant trading protocol built on Ethereum, while the updated version positions Injective as a Layer 1 blockchain for institutional-grade finance and asset tokenization, covering the full lifecycle of tokenized assets—from issuance and trading to settlement. The whitepaper details a native real-world asset (RWA) tokenization framework that establishes role-based permissions for minting, transferring, receiving, and burning assets. Its iAssets feature leverages stablecoin margin and oracle pricing to offer derivatives tracking external assets, eliminating the need for wrapping or pre-funding. Tokenized assets are traded on a fully on-chain central limit order book (CLOB), with sealed high-frequency batch auctions executed per block to clear at a uniform price, mitigating front-running and transaction-ordering miner extractable value (MEV). Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) consensus delivers deterministic finalization, with block times averaging around 600 milliseconds. The new whitepaper also covers native Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and WebAssembly (WASM) environments sharing a unified state, perpetual contract risk management, and AI agent finance. AI agents can interact with tokenized assets via MCP servers, strategy-constrained signatures, and x402 machine payments denominated in USDC. On-chain protocol revenue will be allocated to regular INJ community buyback programs.
