Samsung's Q3 financial results: Net profit of 75.2 trillion won missed expectations, and the company will distribute 30 trillion won in dividends.
South Korea-listed Samsung Electronics released its official third-quarter 2026 financial results today. Figures show the company recorded 195.3 trillion won in revenue for the quarter, slightly higher than the preliminary figures previously announced; operating profit for Q3 stood at 107.4 trillion won. However, net profit for the quarter came in at 75.2 trillion won, missing the market consensus estimate of 83.6 trillion won. Following the earnings release, Samsung Electronics’ stock price dipped briefly before recovering slightly, and is now up 0.2%.
By business segment, the semiconductor division remains the company’s core performance driver. The chip division posted an operating profit of 106.5 trillion won in Q3, accounting for nearly all of the company’s total profit. Among its segments, foundry business revenue saw sharp growth, with the company forecasting double-digit revenue growth for the segment in Q4. In addition, the display business maintained steady profitability, logging an operating profit of 1.1 trillion won. In contrast, the mobile division underperformed, posting an operating loss of 600 billion won in Q3.
On the shareholder return front, Samsung Electronics announced a dividend of 4,601 won per share for Q3, with total dividend payouts reaching 30 trillion won. Looking ahead, Samsung’s management is optimistic about the semiconductor market, forecasting continued expansion in demand for memory chips in Q4, and warning that chip supply shortages will worsen next year.

Google’s Gemini 4 Carbon Returns to Top Tier, Surpasses Opus 5.5 to Top the AA Intelligence Index Ranking
Insight Beating AI Flash News: Google Unveils Gemini 4 Carbon. It has been only half a month since its previous flagship model Argon was made available to the public. Third-party evaluation firm Artificial Analysis’s latest Intelligence Index v5.0 shows Carbon topped the ranking with 59 points, outperforming Claude Opus 5.5 (58 points) and GPT-6 Astra (57 points), and scoring 9 points higher than Argon. The upgrade is particularly prominent in cybersecurity: Carbon can not only detect software vulnerabilities, but also verify whether they are exploitable and generate fix patches. It ranked first in all three corresponding tests, with scores of 88.2%, 54.8% and 71.0% respectively. However, Carbon is not fully leading: in Artificial Analysis’s programming agent ranking, it still lags behind Opus 5.5. Google has not yet made Carbon available to the public. This week, it will first be trialed by a small number of cybersecurity defense teams before gradually expanding access. The API’s promotional price is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, the same as Argon. Prices will double after the promotion ends.

HyperLabs applies to redeem approximately 180,000 HYPE tokens, valued at around $14.49 million.
According to Yu Jin Monitoring, HyperLabs, the development team of Hyperliquid, filed a request to redeem 179,706 HYPE tokens from staking roughly 10 hours ago, worth approximately $14.49 million. Under staking withdrawal rules, this batch of HYPE is expected to be credited on the evening of November 4, around 7 days from now. Yu Jin pointed out that the redemption path follows the same process as the team’s prior token unlocks: after exiting staking, HYPE will first be allocated to team members, then traded over-the-counter (OTC) via market maker/institutional trading platform Flowdesk. The associated staking address is 0x43e...251.

Decentralized liquid staking protocol Diva announces it will shut down and will not launch its mainnet.
Decentralized liquid staking protocol Diva Staking announced in a social media post that it will shut down the project and will not launch its mainnet. The team stated the decision was reached after thorough discussions, and apologized to users who deposited in its Early Staker Vaults; related funds can now be withdrawn via Enzyme with no further waiting.
Since running out of funds in mid-2024, the three-person team has operated without income or compensation for roughly two and a half years. While they believed Ethereum needed a staking solution where validator keys are not controlled by a small number of centralized entities, they are no longer able to continue development.
Diva launched on the Hoodi testnet earlier this summer, running stably for about four months without incidents. However, the project failed to secure support from large institutional backers for mainnet launch, and the small three-person team cannot cover the costs of a new audit and mainnet operation and maintenance. The official emphasized prioritizing security, opting for an honest wind-down rather than risking a problematic mainnet launch.
The announcement also cited shifts in market conditions: the demand structure for liquid staking tokens (LSTs) has changed since the Shanghai upgrade. As of the end of June this year, BitMine, Coinbase, and Binance together hold approximately 30% of all staked ETH (11.5%, 10.9%, and 7.9% respectively), a concentration level comparable to the market’s earlier concerns when Lido’s share neared one-third. The team also congratulated Lido on advancing its Simple DVT framework and opening it to independent stakers.

U.S.-listed leading optical module giant Marvell plans to acquire leading optical chip maker Lumentum.
According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, U.S. chip company Marvell Technology (MRVL) is in advanced negotiations to acquire data center optics manufacturer Lumentum Holdings (LITE). The report noted that a deal could be announced as early as next week, though talks remain in the non-public phase. Following the news, Lumentum’s shares rose roughly 11% in after-hours trading, valuing the company at around $91 billion at the time; Marvell’s stock fell more than 8% in after-hours trade. Lumentum primarily produces optical components for communications networks and data centers. The surge in demand for high-speed data transmission driven by AI computing workloads has drawn increased investor attention to this sector. Marvell had approximately $39.2 billion in cash and cash equivalents in its latest fiscal quarter. Bernstein analysts pointed out that the potential deal size will test the company’s financing and integration capabilities, and it will be difficult to complete the transaction entirely in cash. Marvell has benefited from strong demand for custom AI chips and networking products, with its stock nearly quadrupling so far this year. If the acquisition is finalized, it will further expand its footprint in optical technology for AI infrastructure; the company announced at the end of last year that it would acquire photonics firm Celestial AI for $3.25 billion. Earlier this month, Marvell raised its fiscal 2028 revenue outlook from $15 billion to $20 billion, citing robust demand for custom AI chips and data center networking products.
