Xiaomi confirms MiMo-V2.6 suffers from a looping issue: Reinforcement Learning (RL) worsened the bad behavior during training, with repairs totaling $90,000.

Beating AI Express, Insight: Xiaomi’s MiMo team has reviewed the repeated tool call issue following the launch of MiMo-V2.6. The model sometimes repeatedly invokes identical or highly similar tools, draining context without advancing task progress. In OpenCode, the share of responses with repeated tool calls for Flash and Pro once hit 1.02% and 0.54% respectively. The root cause lies in reinforcement learning (RL) reward design: training prioritizes rewarding "final task completion accuracy" but fails to adequately penalize inefficient in-process behaviors. The original rule only imposed penalties when single-round tool calls exceeded 32 times; repeated calls under 32 times incurred no penalty at all. As RL scale expanded, this "bad habit" was further reinforced. After reviewing training checkpoints, Xiaomi found the proportion of abnormal samples with single-round calls over 10 times in Flash rose from 11.1% at step 0 to 24.6% at step 20. The most direct fix would have been cutting the penalty threshold from 32 to 8 calls, then re-running ~20 MixRL steps, estimated at $2.31 million. Instead, Xiaomi trained a dedicated RL teacher to correct repeated calls, running 12 steps and ~7,000 samples, then integrating this capability back into Pro and Flash via MOPD. The full fix cost ~$90,000, just 4% of the full retraining plan, with other key benchmarks largely unchanged. The fixed MiMo-V2.6-Pro-MOPD and Flash-MOPD weights are now available, and the API has been switched to the new version with unchanged call names. Xiaomi will also reset the remaining quota for MiMo Desktop users’ current cycle.

Bitget CEO responded via live stream to the platform’s first security incident in eight years, revealing that the attack stemmed from a vulnerability in a third-party security product, with losses to be covered by the User Protection Fund.

During today’s community livestream, Bitget CEO Gracy addressed recent security incidents and the platform’s financial status. She openly stated that this marks the first security incident Bitget has encountered in its 8-year history. Following a full traceback, hackers exploited a vulnerability in a third-party security product to steal internal network permission credentials, forged withdrawal commands for the wallet system, and tricked the wallet into executing abnormal transfers that bypassed risk checks. Gracy emphasized that no private keys were leaked and cold wallets remained unaffected; specific technical details will be fully disclosed in an official security report. Gracy noted that the verified losses from this incident are covered by the protection fund, so user funds remain fully secure. The platform holds over $1.4 billion in its own capital, including approximately $464 million in user protection funds. The platform will continue to uphold the security commitment it made when establishing the protection fund in 2022, and plans to replenish the fund to its $300 million baseline within a week. “The protection fund is not a slogan, but an important mechanism that provides tangible protection for users during extreme security incidents,” Gracy said. Facing sudden security challenges, the platform’s comprehensive strength and ability to take proactive responsibility are key metrics for measuring its risk response capability and long-term credibility. Bitget will continue to uphold its long-term commitment to prioritizing user interests.

Stablecoin payments firm RedotPay announced it has completed a financial audit, advancing its U.S. IPO plans.

Hong Kong-based stablecoin payment firm RedotPay has announced it has completed both financial audits and anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) control reviews, with both tasks handled by one of the Big Four accounting firms (the company did not name the specific firm). The financial audit is a mandatory component for a U.S. IPO prospectus, while the compliance review forms another part of its listing preparation. Earlier in August, reports emerged that RedotPay had delayed its U.S. listing over regulatory approval and legal issues; a company spokesperson firmly denied this, stating: "Our IPO has not been delayed, and we are continuing to advance the listing process with our partners." No specific listing date was provided. RedotPay allows users to hold stablecoins in its app, make purchases via a linked Visa card, and complete cross-border transfers.

Meme coin e/acc hits $13 million market cap, posting a 212% gain in 24 hours.

According to GMGN market data, the Solana-based meme coin e/acc has surpassed $13 million in market capitalization, with a 24-hour price increase of 212% and trading volume reaching $26.3 million. The token uses creator fee auto-distribution tool UsePaid to allocate generated creator fees to Silicon Valley influencer account Beff Jezos (@beffjezos) on X. The real identity behind the account is widely recognized as Guillaume Verdon, a former Google quantum computing and quantum machine learning engineer who later founded AI hardware firm Extropic. He is more famous for popularizing the Silicon Valley slogan of effective accelerationism (e/acc) than his personal work: the ideology refers to using technology and capital to push AI, energy and growth to their absolute limits at full throttle. After the launch of the e/acc meme coin, Verdon initially assumed the X Money account had suffered a DDoS attack, but later clarified that the funds might be used for e/acc-related non-profit activities. It is worth noting that Verdon has no official issuing relationship with the token; he is merely named and receives payments passively. BlockBeats reminds users that most meme coins have no real use cases, are highly volatile, and investors should exercise caution when investing.
