The attacker subsequently transferred control of 11 contracts to themselves, migrated them to malicious code, and stole roughly $4.4 million in assets. To recover the funds, Cosmos Hub validators coordinated a near 24-hour and 48-minute chain halt; during the restart process, they transferred approximately 1.23 million ATOM from the attacker’s wallet to a new address, with plans to return the assets to their original holders later. U.S. Bank’s 2026 Wealth Survey shows that U.S. Gen Zers start building wealth at an average age of 19, significantly earlier than previous generations. The survey covered 5,000 U.S. adults aged 18 and older. Findings indicate Gen Zers begin intentionally building wealth (e.g., investing, saving for retirement, or long-term savings) at 19 on average—six years earlier than millennials (25), 10 years earlier than Gen X (29), and 13 years earlier than Baby Boomers (32). Despite starting earlier, 56% of Gen Zers feel they are “doing everything right” but haven’t reached their expected financial standing; 62% report struggling to make financial progress, and nearly half (49%) have paused or plan to pause investing. The survey also found that as traditional milestones like homeownership become less attainable, younger generations are turning to alternative paths. 62% of Gen Zers and 61% of millennials view the stock market as a more realistic route to wealth than buying a home (compared to 51% of Gen X and 45% of Baby Boomers). Meanwhile, around 47% of Gen Zers get financial information from social media; nearly half of young people are more interested in emerging options like cryptocurrency, though most still consider traditional investing the best way to achieve long-term goals. Family support is also on the rise, with roughly 70% of parents having provided or planning to provide assistance for their children’s major life milestones.
