Alibaba launches Qwen Intelligence, benchmarked against ByteDance’s Doubao mobile assistant.

Beating AI Express: Alibaba launches Qwen Intelligence, which can be described as a "Qwen version of Doubao mobile assistant" for smartphone makers. It does not manufacture its own phones, nor is it a standalone application; instead, it packages the Qwen large language model, Agent platform, and mobile scenario-specific capabilities for device manufacturers. Three initial solutions are rolled out, each dedicated to planning, operation, and creation respectively. The Mobile Planner Agent serves as the phone's "brain": it breaks down complex tasks, arranges execution sequences, and calls various tools to complete work. It also features working and long-term memory, enabling it to retain context and user preferences. The Mobile-Use Agent handles actual on-device operations. When direct interface calls are possible, it prioritizes methods such as MCP, API, and DeepLink; if no interfaces are available, it relies on visual recognition and GUI screen tapping. For high-risk operations involving payments, data deletion, and other sensitive actions, it requires final user confirmation. The Mobile Creative Agent is responsible for image generation. Users only need to state their requirements, and the agent will break down steps and call different capabilities to create images. Alibaba notes that its image generation process has been compressed from 100 steps to 8 steps, with the first image produced in approximately 3 seconds. This solution has already been deployed with Honor's MagicOS. The two partners disclosed that complex long-horizon tasks can run continuously for over 100 steps, with an end-to-end service closed-loop rate reaching 90%. Unlike building a standalone AI chat assistant, Qwen Intelligence aims to directly act as a system-level Agent foundation for smartphone manufacturers.
