Goldman Sachs: Gold bull market is just a 'pause', with a solid bottom at $4,000

Goldman Sachs Global Head of Metals Trading Anthony Kim said that gold’s more than seven-month correction since February this year does not signal the end of its bull market, but rather an “extended pause”. He noted that uncertainty over the policy stance of the new Federal Reserve Chair, along with Iran’s conflict disrupting energy markets and impacting capital flows, has exerted temporary pressure on gold prices. However, Goldman Sachs maintains its bullish outlook, arguing that the area near $4,000 is supported by sovereign buyers and institutional funds, marking a “fairly solid bottom”. Anthony Kim suggested that if gold prices approach $4,000 due to data volatility ahead of the Fed’s September policy decision, investors can gradually build long positions. Goldman Sachs previously projected that, driven by factors including central banks’ continued gold purchases, gold prices could rise to $4,900 per ounce by the end of 2026.
