Revolut Secures Conditional Approval From U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), to Move Forward With Launching Its U.S. National Bank in 2027

Crypto-friendly bank Revolut announced in a statement that it has received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for its U.S. national bank license application, a major milestone in its push into the U.S. banking market. Revolut noted it still needs final sign-offs from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Federal Reserve, and the OCC, with plans to launch its proposed U.S. national bank in 2027. Once approved, Revolut will be able to directly offer U.S. customers products including loans, credit cards, FDIC-insured deposits, stablecoins, and cryptocurrencies. The firm currently boasts over 80 million global customers, and targets hitting 100 million users by mid-2027. BlockBeats previously reported that on March 5, Revolut submitted its U.S. bank license application to the OCC. If granted, the license will let Revolut operate in the U.S. like a traditional bank, with direct access to core payment networks such as Fedwire and the Automated Clearing House. It will also enable Revolut to roll out additional banking services, including credit cards and personal loans. Right now, Revolut provides accounts and payment services in the U.S. via a partnership with Lead Bank, but does not hold its own bank license.
