The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has released the full agenda and guest list for its "24-Hour Trading" roundtable, scheduled for September 17. Held at SEC headquarters, the event will run from 10 AM to 4 PM, is open to the public, and will be streamed live on the SEC’s official website. The roundtable is divided into three panel discussions: 1. The first panel focuses on 24-hour market readiness, covering trading platform and broker-dealer preparedness, overnight monitoring, closing price processes, clearing and settlement adjustments, and investor protection. Confirmed guests include representatives from Robinhood, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), BlackRock, Virtu Financial, Cboe, BNY Pershing, UBS, FINRA, and Bruce Markets. 2. The second panel addresses operational resilience of 24-hour markets, including system readiness, Reg SCI compliance, failover and capacity planning, market data continuity, cybersecurity, and overnight staffing. Its guests are from Jane Street, State Street, Samsung, Charles Schwab, Nasdaq, Interactive Brokers, DTCC, Exegy, and MEMX. 3. The third panel examines the expected impacts of extended trading on liquidity and capital formation, as well as infrastructure requirements for a potential shift to 7×24 trading. Guests here include representatives from OTC Markets, BNP Paribas, 24X, Invesco, Citadel Securities, DriveWealth, Blue Ocean, Citigroup, and ModernIR. SEC Chair and commissioners will deliver opening remarks, while Jamie Selway, Director of the Division of Trading and Markets, will also attend. The roundtable is a key step in the SEC’s push to advance U.S. equities to all-day trading under Chair Atkins, marking a substantive transition from policy discussions to operational implementation preparation.
