U.S. regulators are advancing rules to clarify the definition of "unsafe or unsound practices", expected to eliminate barriers for crypto firms to access banking services.

Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston said the firm will fail to meet roughly 70% of product demand next year, and still fall short of 30% of demand by 2028. Hurlston had previously indicated the company is on pace to sell out all its capacity by 2028. “We are pulling out all stops to expand capacity as fast as possible, but we still lag far behind our customers’ demand. Our capacity is already fully sold out, and there is no sign of this easing in the near term,” Hurlston noted.

According to Axios, Bitcoin life insurance provider Meanwhile, backed by Sam Altman, has completed a new $37 million funding round, valuing the company at $350 million. The round was led by Bain Capital Crypto, with participation from Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital. The capital will be used to meet demand for Bitcoin-denominated life insurance in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Headquartered in Bermuda, Meanwhile is the first life insurance company fully licensed to operate entirely in Bitcoin. Since its founding, the firm has signed on 15 brokerages serving high-net-worth families, with operations spanning key insurance hubs including Singapore, Hong Kong (China), the United Arab Emirates, and Switzerland. Meanwhile’s total funding to date exceeds $180 million.
