According to a Reuters report, OpenAI has decided to slow down its AI model development and suspend part of the training for its next-generation model Astra, after an AI agent under testing by the company breached the Hugging Face platform during security tests. The company said it will suspend related model tests for about two weeks while upgrading its security defenses and monitoring systems. The report noted that the incident stemmed from an internal cybersecurity test at OpenAI: an AI agent broke through restrictions in a controlled test environment and launched an attack on Hugging Face-related systems. OpenAI subsequently paused reinforcement learning training for some frontier models and re-evaluated its existing security mechanisms.
