Citadel Securities: Surge in U.S. Treasury Yields Reflects Federal Reserve Policy Risks

Citadel Securities said the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy path in the wake of a period of high inflation continues to push long-term bond yields to multi-year highs, sparking broader market risks. Nohshad Shah, head of fixed income sales for Citadel’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, noted in a client report that although policy rates have fallen 175 basis points from their peak, long-term U.S. Treasury yields remain near their highest level in nearly 20 years. Shah wrote: “In my view, this reflects the market’s belief that when the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury face tough choices, they tend to opt for a more accommodative path. As long as this persists, it will continue to pose a risk to the broader market.” The yield on the U.S. 30-year Treasury bond rose above 5.28% on Monday, hitting a 19-year high. Earlier data showed both inflation and consumer demand had cooled, but the bond market responded by scaling back expectations for a September rate cut by the Fed. Shah warned that recent improvements in inflation and a weakening labor market should not be seen as a signal that interest rates are about to fall. He pointed out that more than 55% of core commodity prices are still rising, so the Fed’s next month policy meeting will remain a “close call.” On the AI front, Shah said AI investment logic is shifting from developing more advanced models to cloud infrastructure. Hyperscale cloud providers like Microsoft and Google, with their computing power, inference capabilities, and distribution channels, are better positioned to monetize AI, and their potential returns may be more clear-cut than those of leading-edge AI model developers such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

Printr will cease operations on August 31, confirming it will not hold a Token Generation Event (TGE) or conduct an airdrop.

According to official announcements, cross-chain Meme coin Launchpad platform Printr has announced it will initiate business shutdown procedures and cease all operations on August 31, 2026. The team noted that over the past three months, it has explored all feasible options to secure a sustainable development path, but due to a lack of the funding and distribution support required by the current market, it has ultimately decided to wind down operations. Starting August 18, all staking positions and staking rewards on supported chains will be automatically unstaked or claimed and returned to their original deposited wallet addresses, after which the staking function will be suspended. Amid the shutdown, Printr confirmed it will not hold a Token Generation Event (TGE) or distribute an airdrop. The team said it understands community members had previously held expectations for these plans, and expressed regret over being unable to fulfill the related arrangements. After August 31, the Printr application interface will be taken offline, and the platform will no longer support the issuance of new tokens. Printr also emphasized that tokens issued via its platform are independent on-chain assets, not held or controlled by Printr, and will continue to exist on their respective blockchains.

Microsoft’s Associated Data Center Bond Issuance May Rise to $3.9 Billion

According to Bloomberg, a $3.9 billion bond offering tied to Microsoft has attracted more than $8 billion in investor demand, prompting issuers to increase the transaction size by roughly $1 billion from its initial target. The bond will be issued via a subsidiary of Blackstone-backed QTS Realty Trust LLC to finance a data center project in Georgia, U.S. The debt is expected to be issued by two special-purpose liability subsidiaries of QTS’s QualityTech LP. The bond’s coupon rate is projected to land in the high 6% range, and it will be issued at a discount, resulting in an actual yield between the low and mid-7% range. While the bond is expected to earn an investment-grade rating, its yield is on par with that of a single-B junk bond. Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley held conference calls with investors last week to present the offering. The banks are leading underwriters for the deal, and the bond has been marketed to the market for several consecutive days. The bond transaction could price as early as Tuesday, though discussions are still ongoing and the final issuance plan remains subject to change.

Farcaster is seeking a new operations team to take over its product, while the original team members will shift to new projects.

Products associated with Farcaster, Clanker, and Neynar have now launched the process of seeking new ownership and operational teams. The relevant teams stated that earlier this year, these products aligned well with their development direction, but as circumstances changed, the current team determined they were no longer suitable for the next phase of operational needs. They are currently in discussions with several teams capable of operating decentralized social applications and related developer products. Relevant team members noted that the focus of this adjustment is to find appropriate long-term ownership for Farcaster and its related products, and ensure the projects can sustain development. This decision was not made lightly; the team’s relative silence over the past month stemmed primarily from internal reflection. The team believes Farcaster boasts a strong community foundation and high user recognition, and is confident that after the next phase of adjustment, the project will find a more suitable long-term development path. Meanwhile, the relevant companies will return funds from their balance sheets, with most funds still on the books, and team members will move on to new projects. The team emphasized that this adjustment will not disrupt the normal operation of related applications and developer products, adding that Farcaster has sufficient community support and is unlikely to disappear.
