Beating AI News Flash: Nanjing-based embodied intelligence startup Wujing Dynamics, founded just 8 months ago, has been embroiled in a wage arrears and shutdown scandal. In June this year, Nanjing state media was still hailing the star firm: just 4 months after its launch, it had signed framework orders worth nearly 500 million yuan with multiple central SOEs, plus another 500 million yuan in local market reserve orders, and secured 110 million yuan in financing. The company focuses on developing industrial-grade quadruped robots for use cases including power inspection, energy, and mining. In July, Jiangning District government showcased its robot, which can identify instrument anomalies and operate switches, with delivery scheduled for October. But just a month later, the company began defaulting on wages. Employees told National Business Daily that salaries have been unpaid since August, provident fund contributions suspended in September, and social security payments halted in October, affecting 30 to 40 staff, with total wage arrears approaching 8 million yuan. The company has now suspended operations, with even its R&D department head involved in labor arbitration. On October 22, reporters contacted CEO Yuan Haihui, who stated he could not reach actual controller Cui Xiaofei and was not in a position to comment.

China’s well-known self-media account Film Hurricane recently launched its first promotional campaign on X (formerly Twitter) as part of its overseas expansion. The campaign offered 100 iPhones as giveaways for users who followed, reposted, and liked related posts. As of press time, the promotional video has garnered 4.87 million views, with both likes and reposts exceeding 100,000, and founder Tim Pan’s account has rapidly gained 302,000 followers. Judging from exposure, engagement, and follower growth metrics, this overseas debut has delivered very clear communication results. However, while the campaign drove significant traffic, the winner list sparked a separate discussion. According to BlockBeats statistics, among the 100 winners selected via X’s Grok tool, nearly 70% had fewer than 100 followers, a large number of their handles were random character combinations (a typical marker of bulk-registered accounts), and at least 20 accounts had posted content related to crypto farming, Web3 airdrops, or NFTs. BlockBeats noted that this outcome was not unexpected. From the NFT craze, to subsequent project airdrops, to the era of rampant airdrop farming, X accounts have long been the core interaction tool for Web3 farming studios. After scaling up their X account numbers, these farming studios turn giveaways originally intended for regular users into a low-cost, high-probability game. It is worth noting that Film Hurricane had previously validated the viral potential of similar campaigns on domestic platforms. A related giveaway it held on Bilibili in September this year received over 2.2 million reposts and likes. This shows that the traffic itself is not the issue, but X’s ecosystem is clearly far more complex.
