What Year Is It? Mainstay Meme Coin Takes Over Demon Coin Market, Leading Altcoins to Keep Dancing

2026.04.16 11:25:54

On April 16, the DeFi token RAVE—after a temporary lull in its wild 58x surge over the past two weeks—took a backseat, as the crypto community woke up to find today’s market leader was a classic meme coin from 3-4 years ago. Market data shows Bitcoin’s long-running meme token ORDI surged 70.6% in the past 24 hours, while SATS (once a top-tier meme coin) jumped nearly 30%. Ethereum’s former meme leader Neiro also posted a 34.1% daily gain. Solana’s 2-year-old meme coins saw a more muted uptick, with PNUT, MOONDENG, BOME, and GOAT all climbing over 15% in 24 hours. Project tokens also rallied: DeSci’s leading DeFi token BIO doubled in value (now up 108.6% over 24 hours), while NFT platform BLUR rose 35.4% in the same period. BlockBeats advises users that the low-cap coin market is currently highly volatile—investors should exercise caution.

Analysts: BTC transfers from retail investors to Binance hit a 6-month high, with whale transfers declining.

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost stated in a post that as Bitcoin prices have stayed above $80,000 for several consecutive weeks, a clear divergence has emerged in trading platform fund flows between retail investors and whales. Retail investors’ Bitcoin inflows into Binance have continued to climb, with the cumulative amount over the past 30 days surging from $5.5 billion to $10.75 billion — nearly doubling and hitting a 6-month high. In contrast, whales’ Bitcoin inflows into Binance have kept declining. Over the past two months, whales’ Bitcoin inflows dropped from $5.9 billion at the end of August to the current $3.8 billion, marking a sustained downward trend with no obvious signs of concentrated inflows so far. The analysis notes that after a year-long slump, retail investors may be treating the recent price rebound as an opportunity to reduce positions and exit, aiming to ease the holding pressure accumulated earlier. By comparison, whales remain cautious currently, showing no willingness to transfer large volumes of Bitcoin to exchanges at current price levels. Going forward, it will be critical to watch whether whales will adjust their strategy if Bitcoin prices continue to rise.
