PsiQuantum to Build Million-Qubit Quantum Computing Facility, Scientists Say Could Break Bitcoin

2026.03.06 09:27:27

**March 6th: PsiQuantum Launches 1M-Qubit Fault-Tolerant Quantum Facility in Chicago** PsiQuantum has broken ground on a fault-tolerant quantum computer facility in Chicago, aiming for 1 million qubits using a photonic quantum computing approach. The project leverages mature semiconductor, fiber optic, and cooling technologies to enable scalability. Construction is progressing rapidly: 500 tons of steel framing were installed in just days. The first phase is expected to be partially completed around 2027, with full operation targeted for 2028. The facility’s computing power will match that of billions of traditional computers, primarily supporting next-generation AI supercomputing. Encryption experts are closely monitoring the facility’s potential to crack Bitcoin. PsiQuantum co-founder Terry Rudolph has explicitly stated the company has no plans to use quantum computing to target Bitcoin, noting its scale is far too large to carry out such covert actions. With quantum threat discussions ramping up lately, the Bitcoin community has been debating a hard fork to mitigate risks. Currently, the world’s largest quantum computer has just 6,100 qubits—nowhere near practical thresholds—posing minimal short-term threat to Bitcoin.

Revolut Secures Conditional Approval From U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), to Move Forward With Launching Its U.S. National Bank in 2027

Crypto-friendly bank Revolut announced in a statement that it has received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for its U.S. national bank license application, a major milestone in its push into the U.S. banking market. Revolut noted it still needs final sign-offs from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Federal Reserve, and the OCC, with plans to launch its proposed U.S. national bank in 2027. Once approved, Revolut will be able to directly offer U.S. customers products including loans, credit cards, FDIC-insured deposits, stablecoins, and cryptocurrencies. The firm currently boasts over 80 million global customers, and targets hitting 100 million users by mid-2027. BlockBeats previously reported that on March 5, Revolut submitted its U.S. bank license application to the OCC. If granted, the license will let Revolut operate in the U.S. like a traditional bank, with direct access to core payment networks such as Fedwire and the Automated Clearing House. It will also enable Revolut to roll out additional banking services, including credit cards and personal loans. Right now, Revolut provides accounts and payment services in the U.S. via a partnership with Lead Bank, but does not hold its own bank license.

Jiang Zhuoer: Sold his entire Bitcoin position at $82,050, and will monitor the $70,000 to $72,000 range going forward.

Jiang Zhuoer, founder of B.TOP (Lianbit Mining Pool), shared his recent trading moves, revealing that he sold his entire BTC position when Bitcoin’s price hit approximately $82,050. Jiang stated that his shift from his prior stance of "not shorting ETH" to shorting BTC was driven mainly by ETH’s high volatility. Meanwhile, after BTC ETF funds showed weakness and recorded their first outflow, Bitcoin instead rallied to near the upper boundary of the $81,500 range, creating a solid selling opportunity. He added that this round of Bitcoin consolidation has only lasted around 13 days, which is insufficient time to break through the key resistance zone of $83,000 to $84,000. The short-term upward wick pattern that emerged after BTC broke above $82,000 also serves as a strong trading signal. For Bitcoin’s future trend, Jiang outlined a scenario: BTC will first pull back to the $70,000–$72,000 range, which he considers the "last entry opportunity". It may then consolidate between $76,000 and $82,000 while identifying take-profit levels. If the price rises further to the $83,000–$84,000 zone, he will use $82,300 as a stop-loss reference.
