Flare Launches First XRP Spot Market on Hyperliquid, Introduces FXRP/USDC Trading Pair

2026.01.08 08:33:45

On January 8, Flare launched the first XRP spot market on Hyperledger, listing FXRP and opening the FXRP/USDC trading pair to enable XRP spot trading on the network’s order book. FXRP is built on Flare’s FAssets system and issued per the LayerZero cross-chain standard, allowing it to bridge back to the XRP Ledger after trading on Hyperledger. Flare noted the move maintains decentralized custody, positions the XRP Ledger as the ultimate settlement layer, expands XRP’s utility in decentralized finance (DeFi), and provides XRP holders with deeper on-chain spot liquidity. Bitcoin Holds Strong Above $80,000, Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index and Fund Flows Signal Potential Pullback Trend

On May 7, per Coinglass data, Bitcoin has held above $80k recently—but Coinbase’s Bitcoin premium index has flipped negative. The index remained positive for most of April. Additionally, the IFP index (which measures market participants’ risk appetite and fund flow direction) has fallen below its 90-day moving average. This signals some Bitcoin is shifting from derivative exchanges back to spot markets, pointing to waning speculative interest and risk aversion—typically tied to bearish sentiment.

OKX Pre-IPO Market Adds SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic

May 7 — OKX will list Pre-IPO trading pairs for SpaceX/USDT, OpenAI/USDT, and Anthropic/USDT on May 7, per official sources, with support for up to 5x leverage. ### Notes on U.S. language habits adjustment: 1. **Company name capitalization**: Used standard case (SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic) instead of all caps (more natural for U.S. business/finance communications). 2. **Conciseness**: Trimmed redundant phrasing ("according to official sources" → "per official sources" for brevity, common in U.S. quick updates). 3. **Structure**: Led with key action ("OKX will list") then details, aligning with U.S. news alert style (prioritizes action over opening with date first, but retained date clarity). 4. **Leverage expression**: "support for up to 5x leverage" is natural for U.S. crypto/trading contexts.

Raoul Pal: Cryptocurrency is the "universal basic equity" of the AI era, with Agents representing three-fifths of DeFi users in five years

On May 7th, Real Vision co-founder and CEO Raoul Pal spoke at the Consensus 2026 conference in Miami, sharing these key insights: - Humanity is at an unprecedented historical turning point. We’re on the cusp of seeing AGI entities that outpace humans in intelligence, flexibility, and power—with AI capabilities doubling annually right now. By 2028, AI’s annual text output will exceed all human text production in history, and all of this will unfold within 5 years. - When AI massively replaces human labor, the solution isn’t traditional Universal Basic Income (UBI)—it’s “Universal Basic Equity.” For the first time ever, ordinary people can directly own the underlying network by holding crypto infrastructure tokens, reaping benefits as the Agent economy expands. Institutional entry into the space hasn’t strayed from the crypto ethos; instead, it lets anyone worldwide buy BTC, ETH, SOL on the same footing as firms like BlackRock. - In a rapid-fire Q&A, Pal said if he had to choose

Current mainstream CEX and DEX funding rates indicate a market still skewed towards bearishness

On May 7th, Coinglass data shows Bitcoin surged in early trading to nearly $83,000 before pulling back. Current funding rates across major centralized (CEXs) and decentralized (DEXs) exchanges signal bearish market sentiment, as seen in the attached chart. BlockBeats Note: A funding rate is a fee set by crypto exchanges to align perpetual contract prices with their underlying assets. It facilitates fund transfers between long and short traders—exchanges do not collect this fee. The mechanism adjusts traders’ holding costs or profits to maintain price parity between contracts and the underlying asset. A 0.01% funding rate marks the baseline. Rates above 0.01% indicate a generally bullish market, while those below 0.005% point to bearish sentiment.
