AAOI's Q4 revenue guidance fell short of expectations, its share price plunged 16% before rebounding rapidly.

Optical module manufacturer Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) released its third-quarter financial results: revenue surged approximately 128% year-over-year to $270 million, while net income swung to a $6.3 million profit from a $17.94 million loss in the year-ago period. However, the company’s fourth-quarter revenue guidance ranges from $385 million to $420 million, with the upper limit still below the market expectation of $427 million. Separately, due to power access and construction progress issues, AAOI expects its U.S. production expansion in 2027 will take longer than previously projected. Following the earnings announcement, AAOI contracts on Hyperliquid briefly dropped from $46.88 to $39.36, a roughly 16% decline. The price quickly rebounded afterward, climbing to $46.30 by midday and recouping most of the post-earnings losses; it remains down around 22.1% over the past 24 hours. Contract open interest rose during the price drop, jumping from approximately 42,000 to 52,300 units, a roughly 24.4% increase. The 24-hour trading volume stood at around $13.45 million.

Warren is expected to take the helm of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, putting Wall Street under stricter regulatory pressure.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Massachusetts Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren is expected to take over as Chair of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee. For nearly two decades, Warren has consistently pressured Wall Street: she has called private equity industry practices legal "predatory", proposed bills that could make corporate executives more easily held criminally liable, and demanded criminal investigations into bank executives who failed to properly prevent risk events. Additionally, Warren has sought to delay SpaceX’s IPO, raised questions about Anthropic’s potential existential risks to humans, and pledged to investigate connections between banking officials and Jeffrey Epstein, as well as their dealings with the Trump administration.

Industry research firm: DRAM enters 'supercycle' in Q3, market revenue approaching $200 billion

According to Counterpoint Research’s newly released Q3 2026 Global Storage Market Tracking Report, driven by robust demand for AI accelerators and data centers as well as rising prices, DRAM revenue in Q3 2026 surged nearly fivefold year-over-year. The research firm noted the current market is in a price-driven supercycle, not a shipment-driven one. This quarter, DRAM bit shipments grew only around 4%, but market revenue neared $200 billion, roughly five times the figure from the same period last year. AI has transformed storage from a commodity into a scarce, high-value resource; buyers now compete for supply security rather than engaging in repeated price negotiations. With prices continuing to climb, suppliers are expected to hit a new profit high next quarter.
