Jiang Zhuoer: Short selling is employed to reduce drawdowns following spot price increases, generating a 34% coin-denominated profit after several months of trading.

Jiang Zhuoer, founder of crypto mining pool BTC.TOP, stated in a post that after several months of trading, his coin-based profit reached 34%, and his USDT-denominated profit hit 92%, nearly doubling. The keys to profitability are position sizing, trading strategies, and coin selection. One must incorporate market sentiment into trading to grasp its nuances. We are now in a bull market cycle; his default position is full spot holdings of Ethereum (ETH). Apart from several recent short positions, the more critical approach is to hold spot ETH fully long-term, as shorting only serves to mitigate drawdowns after spot prices rise.

Hyperliquid’s Open Interest Hits New One-Year High, Drawing Liquidity From Traditional Assets and Prediction Markets

Hyperliquid’s open interest (OI) has hit a new all-time high of $16.36 billion, surpassing the previous record set exactly one year ago on September 18, 2025. Over the past 12 months, the platform has evolved from a crypto perpetual trading venue to an on-chain trading infrastructure supporting stocks, commodities, indices, pre-IPO assets, and event contracts. Launched in October 2025, HIP-3 enables third parties to stake HYPE and deploy their own perpetual markets, with underlying assets spanning US equities, gold, crude oil, the S&P 500, and private firms including SpaceX. As of early September 2026, cumulative trading volume on HIP-3 markets exceeded $548 billion, representing roughly 30% of the platform’s total trading volume over the prior 30 days. HIP-4, rolled out in May 2026, filled the gap in prediction markets and event contracts, and was further opened to third-party deployments at the end of August. During the same period, issuers including 21Shares, Bitwise, and Grayscale sequentially launched HYPE spot or staking-based ETFs; the platform also launched native lending services and advanced licensed HIP-3 markets for US users.

Former Hong Kong bank manager sentenced to four years for US$1.6 billion in fake letters of credit and crypto-related bribes.

A former banking official in Hong Kong, China was sentenced to four years in prison for falsifying over $1.6 billion in letters of credit and accepting approximately $470,000 in cryptocurrency bribes, and has been ordered to return all the bribe funds. Defendant Lam Chun-yin, 32, was a client relations manager at China Construction Bank (Asia) at the time of the offense and had pleaded guilty earlier in the District Court. Judge Ernest Lin Kam-hung stated that even first-time offenders require deterrent sentences, especially considering the crime’s severity and social impact. The judge noted that Hong Kong’s banking and insurance sectors are pillars of its economy, and the scheme undermined Hong Kong’s status as a global financial hub. The Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has obtained arrest warrants for other suspects in the case. Separately, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) previously rolled out a framework to assess banks’ preparedness for quantum computing threats, aligning with Hong Kong’s expansion of tokenized deposits, digital assets, and blockchain settlement applications, with the goal of achieving full industry readiness by 2030.

Vietnam and Austria are collaborating to strengthen cryptocurrency regulation, with plans to issue the first batch of licenses for crypto service providers in 2026.

Vietnam plans to issue its first batch of crypto asset service provider licenses in 2026 under a pilot legal framework to advance the modernization of its financial market. Deputy Minister of Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi met with Mariana Kuhnel, executive director of Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA), in Vienna on September 15 to discuss bilateral cooperation and exchanges on financial regulatory experience. The Vietnam Securities Commission announced the meeting. Vietnam is refining financial regulations to adapt to new asset classes and technological developments, and expects to approve the first batch of digital asset platform operations under the pilot framework in 2026. Vu Thi Chan Phuong, chair of the Vietnam Securities Commission, noted that Vietnam is drawing on recommendations from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and regulatory models from EU institutions to design its oversight mechanisms, with a focus on risk management, investor asset protection, and anti-money laundering. Additionally, Vietnam is considering restructuring its stock trading segments, including the SME board, to enhance transparency, improve the quality of listed products, and prevent market and price manipulation. SMEs make up around 99% of Vietnam’s operating enterprises, and the country is updating support policies to boost their governance, compliance, and digital transformation, thereby improving their access to credit and capital markets. The FMA proposed holding expert online technical workshops and strengthening coordination through the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), a proposal Vietnam welcomed.
