Trump Plans to Sue BBC Over Edited Speech Content, Seeks Up to $5 Billion in Damages

On November 15th, as per the New York Post, US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he intends to sue the BBC as its investigative documentary series Panorama had edited his speech on January 6, 2021. Trump informed reporters on Friday evening while on Air Force One that "We might sue them some time next week, and the amount will range from 1 billion to 5 billion dollars." He further mentioned that he plans to discuss this matter with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the weekend. A BBC spokesperson said on Thursday, "The BBC's lawyers have responded to a letter received on Sunday from President Trump's legal team. BBC Chairman Samir Shah has also sent a separate personal letter to the White House, sincerely apologizing to President Trump on behalf of himself and the BBC for the editing of Trump's speech on January 6, 2021."
