Analyst: Bitcoin and the S&P 500 are in the late stage of a bull market, and any downturn in sentiment could quickly impact Bitcoin.

2025.10.23 16:08:26

On October 23rd, CryptoQuant analyst Axel shared a post indicating that both Bitcoin and the S&P 500 Index are still in the latter stage of a bull market. The S&P 500 has a 52-week return rate of +13%, suggesting that the market remains in a risk-on mode. The correlation coefficient between BTC and the S&P 500 is 0.26, which shows a moderate positive correlation. Bitcoin's trend typically aligns with the direction of the stock market but is not completely dependent on it. The S&P 500 remains highly sensitive to macro factors and political discourse. Therefore, any cooling of sentiment could quickly affect Bitcoin. After entering the fourth quarter of 2025, the market's focus has shifted to corporate earnings. After two years of rising yields, the market is starting to reevaluate actual performance. The third-quarter earnings season is currently in full swing. Among the 58 companies that have reported earnings, all have exceeded expectations, with an average outperformance of 571 basis points. The expected earnings growth rate has also been revised upward from 7% to 8%, which are typical characteristics of the late stage of a bull market.

AI computing power futures launch blocked: CFTC extends review, CME unlikely to launch on schedule in October

The launch of NVIDIA GPU rental price futures, seen as a key step to turn AI computing power into an investable asset class, is facing hurdles. The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) had hoped to roll out the computing power futures contract as early as early October, but now expects it will not secure regulatory approval by then. According to a letter, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which oversees futures markets, is extending its review to delve into how such contracts operate and solicit feedback from a wider range of industry players. The CFTC noted that while a computing power financial market could support the development of U.S. AI, the underlying market is fragmented and opaque. (The Information)

US SEC plans to weaken retail investors' proposal rights, Microsoft pledges to maintain the current threshold for one year.

Microsoft (MSFT.O) will continue reviewing shareholder proposals ahead of its next annual general meeting, a move requested by activist Paul Chesser to protect investor rights amid the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) planned tightening of shareholder proposal rules. According to reports, Microsoft will retain the current threshold for investors to submit resolutions, even as the SEC considers related changes – which critics say would marginalize groups that have held sway for decades, including individual investors, religious organizations, and labor unions. The one-year agreement could effectively counter the SEC’s efforts to shift power from investors to executives. Chesser hopes Microsoft’s action will set a governance model to ensure retail investors have a voice. A Microsoft spokesperson stated that in light of the SEC’s announcement of a review of its shareholder proposal regulatory framework, the company agreed to maintain the current eligibility threshold for one year to provide a clear, predictable process for the next proxy season.
