Analyst: Bitcoin Mining Difficulty All-Time High Signal or Precursor to Local Price Bottom Reached

2025.02.10 20:32:23

On February 10th, James Van Straten, a senior analyst at CoinDesk, wrote that after the weekend adjustment, the Bitcoin mining difficulty reached a historical high of 114.7 T, representing a 5.61% increase from the previous difficulty adjustment. This alteration is in line with the timing when the Hash Ribbon indicator indicated miner capitulation. The Hash Ribbon is a market indicator that usually forms during miner capitulation - when mining costs exceed profits, suggesting a potential local bottom for Bitcoin. According to Glassnode's data, miner capitulation began in early February. Bitcoin has experienced a decline of more than 4% this month. Historically, when this indicator signals capitulation, it often marks a local price bottom. If this pattern remains valid, Bitcoin's bottom could be approximately $91,000. The last capitulation signal occurred in October 2024, following which Bitcoin witnessed a 50% surge. With the continuously increasing mining difficulty, mining has become more competitive, exerting additional pressure on miners. The production data for January reflected this situation, with Riot Platforms being the only major publicly traded miner to report a month-on-month increase in output.

Nano Labs founder Kong Jianping has regained control of his X account after it was targeted in a phishing attack.

US-listed BNB crypto treasury firm Nano Labs and its chairman Kong Jianping announced that their X (formerly Twitter) account was targeted by a phishing attack and has since been successfully recovered. Kong Jianping explained that the attacker sent a phishing email to his public personal email, and his AI assistant incorrectly identified the fake link in the email as X’s official verification page. This led him to input the verification code X sent to his linked email into the phishing page, resulting in the account being compromised. During the breach, the account briefly posted multiple scam messages. Kong Jianping cautioned users against clicking unofficial links, urging vigilance even when AI deems a link trustworthy, and advised setting X’s linked email to an address not easily accessible publicly to reduce the risk of account theft.
