Tether CEO: Not Worried About USDT Competitors, Will Continue to Expand Reach

2025.02.07 23:08:23

On February 7th, Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, posted and stated, "During the El Salvador PlanB forum, I was asked this question: Are you concerned about USDT's competitors? My response is: Many people fail to realize that over the past 10 years, Tether has already established one of the most extensive digital and physical distribution networks in human history." "While some competitors raise funds from investors and increase the market value of their stablecoin on the balance sheet by providing incentives to banks, Tether already has hundreds of thousands of partners. It has set up service terminals in all developing countries and built a digital platform with tens of millions of users and amazing technology. The scale of our network is already distinct." "This is why USDT has been able to successfully empower 400 million users in emerging markets, enabling them to access the global financial system through the USDT stablecoin. Yet, billions of people still cannot access basic financial services. These are good people who are simply not eligible for banking due to their poverty. We will continue to fulfill our mission to assist them. And in the process, we help the U.S. economy by repurchasing hundreds of billions of U.S. bonds and enhance the dollar's position as the most widely used fiat currency in the world. Therefore, no, I am not worried at all."

Anthropic still plans to launch its IPO before Thanksgiving, with a maximum valuation of $1.75 trillion and a planned fundraising of $80 billion to $100 billion.

According to a report by the Financial Times, despite a sharp sell-off in tech stocks, Anthropic still plans to proceed with its initial public offering (IPO) ahead of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday. The AI startup is expected to raise between $80 billion and $100 billion in the offering, with a target valuation range of $1.25 trillion to $1.75 trillion. Market expectations center around $1.5 trillion, lower than the $2 trillion some investors had previously anticipated. Informed investors noted that Anthropic remains committed to going public as scheduled, even if it has to accept a lower valuation. The company’s third-quarter revenue grew nearly 50% to roughly $17 billion, with its latest annualized run rate (ARR) standing at approximately $81 billion, up from $65 billion at the end of July. Meanwhile, Anthropic plans to invest around $900 billion in computing power and infrastructure over the next several years, and currently holds nearly $150 billion in cash and liquid investments. JPMorgan Chase is scheduled to host an information session for potential investors on November 13. Recent sell-offs in the AI sector, regulatory headwinds facing data center construction, coupled with OpenAI’s reduction of its financing target, have all added greater market pressure to Anthropic’s IPO.

MEXC responds to the U.S. Treasury Department cutting its ties to the financial system: The exchange is in contact with regulators and its platform is operating normally.

MEXC posted on X that it has noted the relevant order issued by the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) on November 6, 2026, and is currently conducting a close review with its legal and compliance teams. The exchange stated that its platform is operating normally and user assets remain secure. MEXC added that it will take the allegations seriously and plans to engage in constructive communication with FinCEN and other relevant global regulators and authorities. Meanwhile, the platform has launched an independent review of its anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions compliance measures, with follow-up updates to be released via official channels. Earlier, FinCEN ordered the severing of MEXC’s ties to the U.S. financial system, banning U.S. financial institutions from processing fund transfers involving the exchange. FinCEN alleged that between May 2021 and May 2026, MEXC processed at least $16 billion in funds linked to sanctions evasion, cybercrime, and other illegal activities, involving entities from Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The order was issued under Section 9714(a) of the Countering Russian Money Laundering Act and will take effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register. U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent noted that U.S. financial institutions cannot support the Iranian regime while continuing to access the U.S. financial system.
