「Crypto Czar」: Bitcoin is an 「Excellent Store of Value」

2025.02.05 11:40:20

On February 5th, the White House's "Crypto Czar" David Sacks stated in an interview with CNBC that Bitcoin is an "excellent store of value." He revealed that evaluating Bitcoin reserves is a top priority for a government internal working group. Sacks emphasized that Bitcoin, as the earliest and strongest digital currency, has never been hacked. Sacks also mentioned that after meeting with leaders of the Congressional Banking and Financial Committee, he expects to promote cryptocurrency legislation in the next six months in order to provide a clearer regulatory framework. Additionally, the U.S. SEC is adjusting its regulatory approach to cryptocurrency by reducing dedicated cryptocurrency enforcement teams and reallocating related legal resources. Regarding stablecoins, Sacks stated that the government hopes to promote their issuance domestically in the United States to enhance the dollar's international dominance and create additional demand for U.S. Treasury bonds.

Major U.S. companies are collectively turning to low-cost AI: mentions of open-source models have surged sixfold year-over-year.

Beating AI Express News: A Financial Times investigation finds that open-weight models are spreading from tech companies to traditional U.S. enterprises. AlphaSense data shows that U.S. firms mentioned open-weight or open-source models around six times more year-on-year in earnings calls and investor meetings in August and September this year. PNC Financial, logistics firm CH Robinson, and Siemens have all recently publicly discussed related applications. The most direct driver for enterprises switching models is cost. Tinder’s annual AI spending jumped from roughly $1 million in January this year to around $10 million in July, and it has now started routing some regular requests to open-weight models. Larger telecom firm AT&T currently offloads about 40% of its AI tasks to open models, with plans to raise that share to roughly 70%. Its internal AI system processes around 45 billion tokens daily: simple tasks are assigned to cheaper models, while complex tasks remain with leading models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and other providers.
