Presto Research Director: Ethereum is Ready to Win Wall Street's Approval

2025.08.12 16:24:29

On August 12th, with the second-largest cryptocurrency ETH surging to its highest level in nearly four years, the U.S. Ethereum spot ETF witnessed its largest single-day inflow of funds. The data indicates that on Monday, the Ethereum spot ETF attracted a total inflow of slightly more than $1 billion. So far this year, the total inflow of these 9 funds has exceeded $8.2 billion. It turns out that the focus of "treasury companies" on ETH is an important driving force behind the token's rise. These listed companies are continuously expanding their digital asset reserves. According to the data compiled by Strategic EthReserve.xyz, the so-called "digital asset treasury companies" have absorbed more than $15 billion worth of ETH so far. Peter, the research director at the quant trading firm Presto, said: "Recent stablecoin legislation and the cryptocurrency roadmap outlined by the Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission both suggest that the Ethereum blockchain behind Ether is ready to gain the approval of Wall Street." After the Democratic Party's election victory, Brent crude oil plummeted nearly 9%, with Asian chip and data center stocks declining.

According to Reuters, after the Democratic Party scored a series of major victories in the U.S. midterm elections, oil prices, chip stocks, and the U.S. dollar came under pressure in Asian morning trading, while most other assets rose as markets bet on a cooling outlook for U.S.-Iran tensions. Overnight, Brent crude futures plunged nearly 9% to below $100 per barrel, with a weekly decline of around 20% so far; if the downtrend persists through Friday’s close, it will mark the largest single-week drop since April 2020. In Asian morning trading, oil prices tested the overnight low near $93.50. The pullback in energy prices boosted bonds and pushed yields lower, with the euro rising to around 1.1273 against the U.S. dollar, the greenback hitting a roughly one-month low, and supporting equities. The S&P 500 index closed up 1.6%, while European stocks hit a roughly two-month high; the solar energy sector led gains, as markets expect the Democratic Party to increase support for renewable energy. Meanwhile, Asian data center and related equipment suppliers weakened on expectations of stricter regulation. South Korea’s KOSPI, dominated by chip stocks, fell around 4% in morning trading, approaching a roughly seven-month low; Taiwan’s Weighted Index dropped about 1.8%, and Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell around 0.5%. Multiple Democratic candidates in Texas and Georgia who opposed data center construction won their elections; analysts believe demand for AI and data centers remains strong in the long term, but may slow in the short term. The yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note fell around 6 basis points overnight, and dropped another 1 basis point in Tokyo morning trading to around 4.87%; the 2-year yield fell to roughly 4.56%.

Claude rolls out personal finance feature: integrates bank accounts, leverages AI to help users track their spending.

Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic has launched a beta version of Claude Personal Finance. Users can link bank, credit card, loan, and investment accounts via Plaid, enabling Claude to access account balances and up to two years of transaction history to answer questions like "Where did my money go this month?" and "How much is left before payday?" Claude can aggregate income and expenses across accounts, identify recurring charges, abnormal fees, and rising subscription bills, and generate expenditure charts, bill calendars, and personal finance dashboards. Users must grant authorization themselves; Claude cannot access bank login credentials, and its permissions are limited to read-only access, with no ability to transfer funds or execute transactions. Even when connecting investment accounts, it currently only displays basic information like balances, not specific stock holdings or transaction records. The service is now rolling out in batches to paid Pro, Max, and Ultra users in the U.S. ChatGPT launched a similar service as early as May this year, and it now covers free users in the U.S.

Thinking Machines releases Inkling 2 Small, which scores 31 on AA benchmarks, ranking first among open-source models in the U.S.

Beating AI News: Thinking Machines, founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, has launched its new model Inkling 2 Small. Its Artificial Analysis composite score hit 31 points, up from 13 points for the previous generation, making it the highest-scoring open-source model in the U.S. Despite being named "Small", the model has a total of 594 billion parameters, with 17 billion activated per inference. The most notable improvement lies in its agent capabilities: the automation task pass rate rose from 5% to 46%, and the programming test score increased from 5% to 25%, though it still lags slightly behind DeepSeek V4.1 Flash’s 28.5%. Thinking Machines primarily uses reinforcement learning to boost the model’s ability to handle complex tasks. Artificial Analysis tests found the model outputs an average of around 150,000 tokens per task, four times that of the prior generation. Its average cost climbed from $0.20 to $1.18, and completing one task takes roughly 21 minutes. Currently, Inkling 2 Small is available for inference and fine-tuning on Tinker. Full model weights have not been released yet; the company plans to open-source it under the Apache 2.0 license next week, after completing external security testing.
