WSJ: Mining Company Cathedra Bitcoin Announces Completion of Stock Merger

2025.10.16 10:24:22

On October 16th, as per the report in The Wall Street Journal, Cathedra Bitcoin Inc., a Bitcoin company specializing in the development and operation of digital infrastructure assets, announced the completion of the previously declared 30:1 consolidation of the company's issued and outstanding subordinate voting shares and multiple voting shares. The record date for the share consolidation is October 14, 2025, and it has come into effect. Under this consolidation, for every 30 shares of the company's issued and outstanding subordinate voting shares or multiple voting shares, they have been consolidated into 1 share of the corresponding new class. No fractional shares will be issued. If fractional shares occur due to the consolidation, they will be rounded down to the nearest whole number of shares. This share consolidation treats all shareholders equally and will not change any shareholder's proportional ownership interest in the company unless the rounding of fractional shares leads to a minimal loss of shares for some shareholders.

Strategy responds to reports that it may face removal from MSCI indices: Bitcoin does not need MSCI, and neither does Strategy.

Strategy issued a statement responding to the possibility of being removed from MSCI indices, stating: "Digital assets are assets. Index providers should measure the market, not decide which assets companies can hold." The firm added that MSCI’s relevant proposal is inconsistent with the direction of regulators, the market, and its own clients, emphasizing: "Bitcoin does not need MSCI, and neither does Strategy." Earlier reports noted that MSCI is soliciting feedback on a new non-operating company identification methodology, which could result in Strategy and Metaplanet being excluded from the MSCI All Country World Investable Market Index (ACWI IMI). Based on MSCI’s simulation using May 2026 data, Strategy, Metaplanet, and uranium investment firm Yellow Cake would be removed from MSCI ACWI IMI, while entities including SharpLink would be placed on the public watchlist.

Norway's sovereign wealth fund indirectly holds 11,549 BTC, marking a new all-time high.

K33 Research Head Vetle Lunde stated that as of the end of H1 2026, Norway’s sovereign wealth fund’s indirect Bitcoin exposure—via holdings in stocks of companies including Strategy, Metaplanet, MARA, Coinbase, Block, and Tesla—rose to a record high of 11,549 BTC, worth approximately $725 million. This exposure increased by 21.2% in the first half of the year and 60.5% over the past 12 months, marking its sixth consecutive reporting period of growth. Strategy accounts for nearly 86% of the fund’s indirect Bitcoin exposure, equivalent to around 9,914 BTC. As of June 30, the fund held approximately 1.17% of Strategy’s shares, valued at $357.3 million at the time. Metaplanet corresponds to 671 BTC, MARA to 421 BTC, and Coinbase, Block, and Tesla to 183 BTC, 120 BTC, and 97 BTC respectively. K33 noted that this exposure is likely not the result of the fund’s active Bitcoin allocation, but rather an indirect effect of its widely diversified portfolio. Currently, the relevant Bitcoin exposure accounts for about 0.03% of the fund’s total assets. Additionally, the fund obtained indirect Ethereum exposure for the first time via Ethereum treasury company BitMine. As of June 30, it held 6.15 million shares of BitMine, valued at $88.3 million, accounting for around 1.16% of the company’s shares; based on BitMine’s current ETH holdings, this translates to an indirect exposure of approximately 67,340 ETH.

Netanyahu is struggling in his election campaign, with Trump yet to publicly voice his support.

According to Axios, two weeks ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, where Trump asked Netanyahu about his poll numbers ahead of the October 27 general election. Netanyahu paused in silence for a moment before one of his advisors interjected: "Mr. President, he’s leading." Netanyahu’s lead is not substantial. Despite repeated queries from reporters, Trump has not yet provided the support Netanyahu had expected. Trump could still change his mind, but with only 75 days remaining until the election, Netanyahu is running out of time. Netanyahu’s current ruling coalition is polling at just 49 to 53 seats—far below its current 68 seats and short of the 61 seats needed to form a government. Meanwhile, Israel’s opposition holds 67 to 70 seats in surveys. Netanyahu’s main rival, former Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, has higher support in most polls. (Jinshi)

JPMorgan Chase upgrades Sandisk's rating to Overweight, with a target price of $2,250.

According to CNBC, JPMorgan Chase has upgraded its rating on SanDisk (SNDK) from Neutral to Overweight, setting a $2,250 target price that implies roughly 47% upside from Thursday’s closing level. SanDisk’s stock has surged 544% so far this year. JPMorgan analyst Harlan Sur noted that the rapid growth of AI inference is driving a structural inflection point in NAND demand, leaving SanDisk uniquely positioned to benefit. The acceleration of AI applications has lifted storage demand and created supply tightness. At its New York Investor Day, SanDisk disclosed it will adopt a new business model including structured pricing mechanisms and advance payment agreements with major clients. JPMorgan said this framework is expected to boost the company’s profit margins and reduce its business cyclicality. To date, SanDisk has signed 8 related long-term agreements, with a total contract value of approximately $94 billion based on the price floor, and a weighted average contract term of over four years. LSEG data shows that among the 25 analysts covering SanDisk, 22 have assigned a Buy or Strong Buy rating, while the remaining 3 have given a Hold rating.
