Analysis: New BTC buyers are nearing break-even, while holders who have held their coins for 3 to 6 months still face significant loss pressure.

CryptoQuant analyst Axel Adler Jr. noted in a recent post that the holding status of new BTC buyers is improving. Investors holding BTC for 0 to 3 months are nearly at break-even, while those holding BTC for 3 to 6 months still face deep unrealized losses, with current market pressure concentrated on the latter group. The NUPL (Net Unrealized Profit/Loss) indicator for the 0-3 month BTC holding cohort has rebounded to -0.02, close to the break-even level, and has improved significantly from -0.13 since June. In contrast, the NUPL for the 3-6 month holding cohort remains at -0.14, indicating their average cost basis is still notably higher than the current BTC price. The Realized Cap Drawdown for the 3-6 month holding cohort has also continued to deteriorate, hitting -69.6%—the lowest level in the past 90 days—while the figure for the 0-3 month group is around -64%. This means that although pressure on the most recent buyers is easing, investors who entered earlier still face large unrealized losses. Adler added that the near break-even of the 0-3 month holding group is a positive signal for market improvement, but broader recovery will require the NUPL of the 3-6 month cohort to return above zero, along with a halt in the expansion of their Realized Cap Drawdown and the start of sustained recovery. Currently, the main pressure among "young coins" has shifted from the latest buyers to the 3-6 month holding group.

Macquarie: KOSPI index expected to rebound in the short term, driven by Samsung and SK Hynix.

Macquarie analysts stated in a report that South Korea’s benchmark Kospi index is expected to rebound in the short term, driven by chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The analysts noted that extreme volatility in July was mainly fueled by these two stocks, which together accounted for 71% of the total market capitalization loss. However, as outflows of foreign and institutional funds stabilize, concentrated position funds reallocate, and margin trading balances remain at a reasonable level, market volatility is easing, with limited risk of sudden sharp swings. Macquarie expects earnings revisions to push the Kospi higher, adding that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will overcome concerns over peak demand and competition. The two firms’ rapid profit growth should translate into substantial returns for shareholders, they noted. Macquarie maintained its 8,000-point target for the Kospi. (Source: Jinshi)

Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Korea: It is necessary to continue raising interest rates, with future steps dependent on data.

Bank of Korea Senior Deputy Governor Yoo Sang-dae stated that it is necessary to continue raising interest rates, and the pace of future rate hikes will be adjusted based on changes in data such as economic growth and inflation. Unless major shocks or special factors occur, the likelihood of further interest rate hikes remains high. The Bank of Korea previously raised rates for the first time in three and a half years, signaling that it may continue to tighten monetary policy going forward. He pointed out that current policy formulation needs to focus on growth and inflation prospects, and decide on the subsequent policy path based on exports, consumption, and other economic data. Recently, South Korea’s economy, supported by semiconductor exports driven by the AI industry, has posted stronger-than-expected growth while adding to inflationary pressures.
