Video game development giant EA will officially change ownership to the Saudi consortium.

According to a document from the European Commission, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund (PIF) and a consortium of investors have secured EU approval under the bloc’s foreign subsidy rules to acquire global video game giant Electronic Arts (EA) for $55 billion. In another regulatory filing submitted last Thursday, EA confirmed it had obtained all required regulatory approvals by July 30 and expects the deal to close on August 4. In September 2025, EA announced it had reached a definitive agreement to be acquired by the consortium of PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners in an all-cash transaction valuing the company at roughly $55 billion. Turqi Alnowaiser, PIF’s vice president and head of international investments, stated that PIF holds a unique position in the global gaming and esports sectors and is committed to building and supporting ecosystems connecting players, developers, and IP creators. EA called the transaction the largest all-cash privatization acquisition in history. The buyers include Saudi Arabia’s PIF, U.S.-based Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. Affinity Partners is an investment firm founded in 2021 by Jared Kushner, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, which has received substantial funding from Saudi Arabia; Silver Lake is a technology-focused investment firm. As such, the EA acquisition is almost entirely led by Saudi capital.

AI cloud startup Volta Infra Holdings has secured $300 million in funding, co-led by a16z and Altimeter Capital.

According to Bloomberg, Volta Infra Holdings Ltd., a newly established AI cloud company, has raised $300 million in venture capital. Volta also secured a $5 billion customer financing pool to help small and mid-sized AI firms lower the barrier to purchasing Nvidia’s high-end chips. The financing, set to be announced on Tuesday, values the company at $2.4 billion, with co-lead investments from Andreessen Horowitz and Altimeter Capital. Nvidia Corp. and Michael Dell also participated. Azora, the asset management firm providing the banking financing pool for Volta’s clients, had taken part in its earlier funding rounds. Volta also said it has signed a $10 billion cloud computing capacity supply contract with a leading AI developer, a six-year agreement according to the firm. The company was founded earlier this year by Ricard Boada and Sofia Gumuzio, both former executives in the infrastructure business at Brookfield Asset Management Ltd. Volta aims to make it easier for top AI labs and smaller startups to afford Nvidia’s cutting-edge chips.
