Strategy founder Michael Saylor once again shared updates related to the firm’s Bitcoin tracker, with the caption: “Bitcoin Drive engaged.” Per its historical pattern, Strategy typically discloses Bitcoin purchases the day after such announcements, but the company has not added to its Bitcoin holdings for five consecutive weeks. This week, Strategy released its second-quarter financial results, reporting an $8.2 billion loss, compared to a $10 billion profit in the year-ago period. The loss stemmed primarily from unrealized paper losses on its Bitcoin holdings. Strategy noted that its Bitcoin position rose 11% in Q2, peaking at 846,000 BTC before the firm began selling some of its assets. As of its latest filing, the company holds 843,775 BTC. Year-to-date, Strategy has sold approximately $218 million worth of Bitcoin to cover preferred stock dividends. The firm had previously suspended Bitcoin purchases for five consecutive weeks, shifting its focus to expanding U.S. dollar cash reserves.

Researchers from the Chinese People's Public Security University have developed an AI framework that detects illegal cryptocurrency transactions with an overall accuracy of nearly 90%. The study was published in the Chinese peer-reviewed journal *Intelligence Magazine*. Corresponding author Dr. Sun Jingchao, who specializes in criminal investigation and cybersecurity, noted that the research "provides an accurate, scalable, and interpretable solution for detecting illegal cryptocurrency transactions" and offers an innovative technical path for regulators to crack down on illegal crypto activities and economic crimes. The AI framework leverages memory modules and large language models, specifically targeting the anonymity and cross-border traits of cryptocurrencies to track illegal transactions such as money laundering. The research comes as China continues to intensify its efforts against crypto-related financial crimes. In March this year, the Supreme People's Procuratorate disclosed that procuratorial organs prosecuted 3,259 people for money laundering involving virtual currencies and underground banks in 2025. As cryptocurrency trading volumes surge, its anonymous and cross-border nature creates channels for illegal fund flows; this police-developed AI detection tool marks an upgrade in regulatory technical means from passive tracking to active intelligent identification.

Galaxy Research Head Alex Thorn said that attack incidents surrounding the Coldcard wallet continue to evolve, with more small-scale attackers and copycats now targeting the remaining Coldcard mnemonic phrases. Thorn noted that by assisting, the identity of a depositor affected in the attack was confirmed; the relevant funds were transferred out before they could be frozen on the Duel platform, and the involved funds are not part of the three main attack waves previously identified by Galaxy Research. Earlier reports stated that the Bitcoin hardware wallet Coldcard was hacked, with stolen funds now totaling 1,367.05 BTC, worth approximately $88.6 million, involving 4,585 addresses. Galaxy Research Head Alex Thorn added that the attacks are still ongoing, and users who have not yet moved their funds should immediately transfer their assets out of addresses generated by Coldcard.

The U.S. ETF industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, with a total of 1,001 ETFs listed in the country over the past two months.
