According to market data from BIT (bit.com), Apple Inc.’s stock price hit an intraday record high of $342.89 on Tuesday, with its market capitalization briefly crossing $5 trillion, making it the second listed company in history to reach this milestone. By the close of trading, Apple’s stock stood at $340.08, with its market cap slightly below $5 trillion, yet it remains the world’s most valuable listed company. Year-to-date, Apple’s stock has risen approximately 25%, outperforming most large-cap tech stocks. Market analysts note that investors are reassessing AI investment logic: compared to peers like Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon that are ramping up capital expenditures on AI infrastructure, Apple has gained market favor due to its lower capital outlays, end-user AI strategy, and service ecosystem advantages. Additionally, Apple recently received approval to launch Apple Intelligence features in China in partnership with Alibaba and Baidu, and has rolled out the "Upgrade" hardware leasing program. The market is widely anticipating Apple’s quarterly earnings report to be released this week, which will also mark the last earnings call led by Tim Cook as CEO.

South Korea's stock market has triggered circuit breakers for two consecutive days, bringing the total number of such halts to nine so far this year.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) saw its intraday decline exceed 8% at one point today, triggering the market’s circuit breaker mechanism, falling below the 5,600-point threshold to hit a recent low. This marks the ninth time South Korea’s stock market has triggered the circuit breaker this year, and the second consecutive trading day it has done so. Earlier market views had argued that South Korea’s circuit breaker mechanism was no longer effective, failing to effectively halt sell-offs. The core drivers behind this slump are the revaluation of AI semiconductor stocks coupled with structural flaws in South Korea’s market. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix together account for over 40% of KOSPI’s total market capitalization, meaning fluctuations in these two stocks alone can sway the broader market’s direction.
