Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps Calls Missile Attack on Israeli Air Base 'Warning Shot'

June 8 – Xinhua News Agency – On the evening of June 7, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement announcing its Aerospace Force fired ballistic missiles at Israel’s Ramat David Airbase in northern Israel. The IRGC said the missile strike was in response to recent Israeli military operations across multiple areas of southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut. Ramat David, the group noted, is one of Israel’s key bases for carrying out such regional military actions. The statement added that Iran had agreed to a ceasefire arrangement on April 8, conditional on a full ceasefire across all conflict fronts. However, Iran charged that the U.S. and Israel failed to uphold their commitments under that deal. The group further accused Israel of continuing military campaigns in Lebanon, while also blaming the U.S. and Israel for targeting Iranian ships and coastal facilities in the Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman, and Indian Ocean—actions Iran said undermined the ceasefire. Iran described the June 7 missile strike as a “warning measure,” warning that if Israel’s military actions escalate further, Iran’s future responses will expand to target more U.S. and Israeli sites in the region.
