Gemini 3.5 Officially Released: Google Bets on the Era of Embodied AI

On May 20, Google DeepMind officially unveiled its next-generation Gemini 3.5 model series, launching Gemini 3.5 Flash for global users. The company notes the model pairs "state-of-the-art intelligence" with practical, real-world actionability, zeroing in on AI agents and programming use cases, with the ability to tackle complex, long-range tasks. Gemini 3.5 Flash is now accessible to users worldwide via channels including the Gemini app, Google Search AI Mode, Google AI Studio, Android Studio, and the enterprise-focused Gemini Enterprise platform. Google also revealed Gemini 3.5 Pro is currently in internal deployment and expected to launch publicly next month. Performance data from Google shows Gemini 3.5 Flash outpaces Gemini 3.1 Pro on key benchmarks for AI agents and coding—including Terminal-Bench 2.1, GDPval-AA, and MCP Atlas—scoring 84.2% on the multimodal reasoning test CharXiv Reasoning. The firm adds Flash delivers output speed four times quicker than other top-tier models. Google highlights Flash’s core strength: "long-term intelligent agent work" powered by features like automated planning, multi-step task execution, tool integration, and collaborative sub-agents. Tasks that once took days or even weeks (such as development, auditing, or financial workflows) can now be completed faster, with costs typically running under half of competing leading models. For commercial adoption, major firms including Shopify, Salesforce, Macquarie Bank, Ramp, Databricks, and Xero have already begun testing or rolling out Gemini 3.5 Flash. Google also announced a new personal AI agent built on Gemini 3.5 Flash: Gemini Spark. The tool assists users with around-the-clock digital transactions and completes proactive tasks once authorized. Currently, Spark is available to a small group of beta testers, with a full Beta launch scheduled for next week exclusively for U.S. Google AI Ultra subscribers. Finally, Gemini 3.5 Flash is now the default model for the Gemini app and Google Search AI Mode, enabling generation of more dynamic, interactive Web UI interfaces.

On May 20, per CNBC, the U.S. Senate advanced a resolution to block the Trump administration from taking military action against Iran. While the measure’s passage faces steep hurdles thanks to the president’s veto power, the vote nonetheless reflects growing political resistance building around the Middle East situation. Meanwhile, inflation pressures and rising energy prices pushed the yield on the U.S. 30-year Treasury bond to its highest level since 2007, hitting 5.197%. From a macro standpoint, markets continue to be shaped by geopolitical tensions and inflation expectations. The Iran situation is driving oil prices higher, which adds additional inflationary risks to the U.S. economy. Additionally, SpaceX is reportedly working with Goldman Sachs to prepare for a potential initial publi

U.S. Senator Warren Lambasts OCC for Unauthorized Regulatory Actions, Nine Major Crypto Firms' Trust Charters Face Revocation Crisis

Warren called the move a serious breach of the National Bank Act, claiming it allows crypto companies to run core banking operations unlawfully via "disguised trusts" without strict Federal Reserve oversight. Warren is demanding the OCC turn over all charter application documents and communications with the White House by a specified deadline, even questioning potential alignment of interests with specific political actors.
