Huazhong University of Science and Technology's Elite Hacker Transforms into Cyber Police Officer, Exposes Billion-Dollar Coin Theft Gang, and Solves Hubei's First Virtual Currency Theft Case

**Wuhan Cyber Cop Guo Tingyu Earns Second-Class Merit for High-Profile Tech Crime Busts** Guo Tingyu, a cyber security officer with the Wuhan Public Security Bureau’s Qingshan District Sub-Bureau in Hubei, China, has been awarded the Second-Class Merit. The under-30 officer holds a Computer Science degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). After graduation, he worked as a programmer at the Wuhan branch of a Beijing-based internet company before passing the civil service exam and joining the police in 2023—serving for less than three years to date. In early 2024, Guo was transferred to the Cyber Security Brigade and led Hubei’s first cryptocurrency theft case. The victim lost over 300,000 RMB worth of virtual currency after downloading a fake wallet app. With no prior provincial experience handling such cases, Guo analyzed three critical areas: cryptocurrency distribution addresses, the fake wallet’s backend development, and fund flows. After nearly 70 days of work, he identified the suspect via the app’s development code. Investigators later uncovered the gang had created a counterfeit app that bypassed app store security to trick users into downloading it—with tens of thousands of total downloads. The case involved over 1 billion RMB; all five suspects were arrested and face severe legal penalties. In February 2025, a large equipment design firm in his jurisdiction suffered a ransomware attack, encrypting 400+ GB of core design data accumulated over nearly a year. The company risked millions in breach of contract fines. Guo responded on-site, found a hidden disk backup, and recovered all core data after 8 straight hours of work. He then traced the virus files via server logs to a foreign IP address. To date, Guo has helped solve 2 national-level cases, 6 provincial-level cases, and more than 10 cryptocurrency-related crimes. “All cybercrimes leave traces,” he noted during a case review. “Tech professionals must maintain a sense of awe for technology—never opening Pandora’s box to use it for malicious ends.”

Analysis: Trump's AI Jesus Previously-Drawn "Self-Portrait" May Have Been Key Motivation for Shooter

On April 27, prominent independent journalist Ken Klippenstein published an article about Sunday’s shooting of former President Donald Trump, noting that White House dinner shooter Cole Tomas Allen held extreme religious beliefs—directly contradicting the narrative that Trump is portrayed as a “hater of Christians.” Per Allen’s social media posts, he identified as a Protestant, likened Trump to the “Antichrist” (citing the Book of Revelation), and openly criticized the AI-generated “Jesus-style image” of Trump—depicting him in a robe performing Jesus-like miracles. Klippenstein noted that Allen invoked Christian theology to justify his actions, and the AI-generated Trump “Jesus image” likely amplified his extremist views—ultimately prompting the shooter to carry out the attack.
