Bessent: Hormuz Strait Shipping Insurance Plan to Launch
**March 27 (Bloomberg) — U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday the U.S. will launch an insurance plan to facilitate shipping through the Hormuz Strait, a move aimed at restoring most of the world’s oil and gas supply flows.**
The announcement came weeks after former President Trump first stated the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) would provide insurance coverage and naval escorts to ensure safe passage for tankers and other vessels through the strait.
At the time of Bessent’s remarks, concerns were escalating over soaring oil and gas prices amid the Iran conflict, with fears that energy supply disruptions would persist even after the conflict ends.

ARK Invest is starting to leverage Kalshi to inform investment strategies and hedge risk
On March 27, The Block reported that Cathie Wood’s investment firm ARK Invest is leveraging Kalshi’s prediction market data to inform its investment decisions.
ARK CEO and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Cathie Wood noted: “Integrating prediction markets into institutional investment workflows is a natural next step in financial research innovation. We believe these signals can enhance our research process, provide valuable context on key drivers of disruptive industries, help investors better quantify uncertainty, and make more informed decisions.”
Given ARK’s longstanding mandate focused on its so-called “disruptive technologies,” its adoption of prediction markets comes as little surprise. The firm isn’t the only one tapping these emerging platforms— and in theory, they can offer relatively unbiased perspectives on future event probabilities, since users must put real money on the line.

Bridgewater Slams Financial Times: Calls Claim Fed Will Take Cue From BoE on Reform Tabloid Nonsense
On March 27, the UK’s Financial Times reported that U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen discussed with market participants a proposal to boost Treasury oversight of the Federal Reserve by drawing on aspects of the Bank of England’s model—a step that could upend the Fed’s relationship with the U.S. government. Separately, former President Donald Trump has launched an unprecedented attack on the world’s most influential central bank.
Yellen slammed the report in response: “This is a completely false report. The Financial Times has devolved into a gossip sheet for market participants. Despite my public, explicit denial of ever advocating, discussing, or supporting using the Chancellor of the Exchequer-Bank of England dynamic as a blueprint for the Treasury-Fed relationship, FT reporters published a fabricated article headlined ‘Yellen praises Bank of England as model for stronger Fed oversight.’ These reporters clearly fabricated the story to create the impression that I and the Trump
