Resolv: Strongly advise against trading or acquiring USR at this time

On March 26, Resolv Labs released a statement clarifying a key point amid ongoing mitigation efforts: We strongly advise against trading or acquiring USR at this time. On-chain data indicates illegally minted USR has been commingled with pre-attack USR across multiple wallets and is actively circulating in the secondary market. The attacker’s illegally minted USR has never had collateral backing and lacks redemption rights. Any transactions made now risk involving illegal tokens and will also complicate the asset recovery process. We’re currently in the early stages of evaluating a recovery plan for affected holders and cannot offer any guarantees—any potential remediation steps will likely be constrained by ongoing transaction activity. We’re collaborating closely with the impacted protocol to develop a solution and will share specific details once finalized.

SlowMist Cosmos: Coinbase has taken offline the page for recovering assets using user-entered plain text mnemonic phrases

March 26th — SlowMist founder Cosmos Yoo noted in a post that Coinbase has taken offline the page where users enter plain-text mnemonic phrases for asset recovery. For wallets, first, the security model of online web pages is far weaker than that of browser extensions and mobile apps. Second, collecting plain-text mnemonic phrases on web pages is easily replicated by phishing sites — this has long been a common phishing tactic. Finally, as a well-known wallet provider, such behavior that drastically lowers the wallet’s security model should not exist from a user responsibility standpoint.
