US-Iran Negotiation Progress a Mystery, White House Plans for Mnuchin Weekend Attendance at Talks, Iran Throws a Wrench in the Works and Sets Out Five Major Ceasefire Conditions

March 26 – The U.S. has recently sent consistent signals of willingness to negotiate with Iran but has faced consistent pushback from Tehran. Trump administration officials said the White House is working to arrange a meeting in Pakistan this weekend to discuss resolving the Iran crisis, with Vice President Pence potentially traveling there to join the talks. The U.S. also insists it has not received any indication Iran is refusing to negotiate. Meanwhile, Iran has taken a tough stance, stating a ceasefire and negotiations are not feasible at this stage. It has outlined five key ceasefire conditions: 1. A complete end to aggression and assassinations; 2. A guarantee no further war will be imposed on Iran; 3. War reparations; 4. An end to all frontlines and all resistance organizations; 5. Recognition of Iran’s sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has also issued a stern warning: if it detects support for its enemies’ occupation of Iranian islands, it could open a new front in the Strait of Hormuz.

March 26th: Diplomatic efforts to end the US-Iran conflict remain unlikely to bear fruit, though senior Middle East observers note a path to an agreement still exists if both sides are willing to engage. Turkish, Egyptian, and Pakistani mediators are actively pushing for a US-Iran official meeting as early as this week. U.S. officials have highlighted a key challenge to negotiations: the U.S. and Israel have removed Araghchi and hardline Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf from their targeted killing lists for 4-5 days to allow their participation in the early stages of talks. On March 26, Vibhu Norby—Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation—told attendees at the New York Digital Asset Summit (DAS) that the Solana network has processed 15 million on-chain payments from AI agents, primarily for machine-to-machine business interactions, with stablecoins serving as the default settlement tool for AI agent compute and services. Norby noted the programmable nature of AI agent payments gives it a unique edge in the crypto payment space, adding this trend will fundamentally reshape the internet’s commercialization model by enabling microtransactions as low as fractions of a cent (billed per usage)—a capability traditional payment rails lack. When AI agents choose a crypto payment method, Solana consistently ranks highly. He expects 95% to 99% of future crypto transactions will be initiated by large language models, and users’ primary interaction with crypto networks will shift to AI agents.
