On March 3, per monitoring from HyperInsight, crypto whale “Big Brother Whale” Huang Licheng has just added a 25x-leveraged long position in Ethereum with a notional value of $3.2 million, at an average entry price of $2,024.42. His account now has only $110,000 remaining. Since last September—when Ethereum traded at $4,700—he has consistently held long positions. Additional capital for his positions since late February has come from assets he deposited into the PleasrDAO treasury five years ago, which may signal his available liquidity is drying up. Over the past six months, the whale has accumulated total losses of $74 million.

SoFi and Mastercard Partner to Support SoFiUSD Stablecoin Settlement on Global Payment Network

March 3 – SoFi, the first U.S. national chartered bank to offer Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading, announced plans to use SoFiUSD as a settlement currency via the Mastercard global payment network. SoFi’s Galileo technology platform is set to be among the first to enable SoFiUSD settlement transactions for its card customers and issuing banks. Mastercard and SoFi also noted they will explore more interoperable use cases across stablecoins, fiat currencies, and tokenized assets—including programmable treasury tools and new payment/fund flow scenarios—subject to regulatory review.

Lido: ZKsync wstETH Bridge Endpoint Contract Vulnerability

March 3 — Lido officially announced that the ZKsync wstETH bridge endpoint contract has a potential vulnerability. There is no evidence the vulnerability has been exploited, and wstETH holders on ZKsync remain unaffected. All other bridge contracts are unimpacted. As a precaution, Lido has temporarily suspended new fund deposits to the ZKsync bridge contract; withdrawals from zkSync and token transfers, however, remain unaffected. A fix has been prepared. It will undergo an audit and be deployed following the next scheduled on-chain Lido governance supermajority vote (late March/early April), after which the deposit function will be reactivated. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
