January 26th — BitMine, the largest Ethereum-focused treasury firm, announced Thursday that its total holdings of crypto assets, cash and "potential projects" amount to $12.8 billion, per official sources. Key holdings include: - 4,243,338 ETH; - 193 BTC; - A $200 million equity stake in Beast Industries; - A $19 million equity investment in Eightco Holdings (NASDAQ: ORBS) — categorized as a "potential project"; - $682 million in cash. BitMine’s ETH holdings represent 3.52% of Ethereum’s total supply (120.7 million tokens). BitMine Chairman and Fundstrat analyst Thomas "Tom" Lee noted: "Over the past week, we’ve added 40,302 ETH to our holdings. Since mid-October, the ETH-to-BTC price ratio (ETHBTC) has climbed consistently — a trend we believe reflects investors’ recognition that Wall Street is building tokenization and other use cases on Ethereum. To underscore the scale of this activity, the Ethereum Foundation’s website has listed 35 major financial institutions that have built on Ethereum in just the past few months." Lee added that as of Jan 25, 2026, BitMine has staked 2,009,267 ETH — valued at $57 billion based on an ETH price of $2,839 — with a 171,264 ETH increase in the past week. This staked amount is only a portion of BitMine’s 4.2 million ETH holdings. BitMine currently holds more staked ETH than any other entity globally. Based on a 2.81% CESR (Consolidated Ethereum Staking Rate) calculation, its annualized staking yield totals $374 million — averaging over $1 million per day.

Benchmark: If the Market Structure Bill is not passed, the U.S. crypto market will face "structural constraints"

On January 26, Wall Street brokerage Benchmark said the U.S. crypto market won’t return to the aggressive regulatory enforcement environment of 2022–2023 if Congress fails to pass cryptocurrency market structure legislation this year. But amid surging global adoption and growing institutional interest, market structure will remain constrained. Analyst Mark Palmer wrote in a Monday report: “Lack of legislation will mean a structural risk premium lingers across much of the digital asset ecosystem.” This will limit valuation upside for platforms focused primarily on the U.S. market, he added. Palmer noted legislative failure would delay—not halt—crypto’s maturation, leaving the U.S. market unable to fully realize its potential. In that scenario, investors will favor Bitcoin-focused assets, strong balance sheet firms, and cash-flow-stable infrastructure over regulation-sensitive areas like trading platforms, decentralized finance (DeFi), and altcoins.
