Analysis: $7 Trillion Money Market Fund Reserves Could Fuel Next Crypto Market Rally

September 9th. Based on the data from the Investment Company Institute (ICI), by the end of the week of September 3rd, the total assets of U.S. money market funds rose by $52.37 billion and reached a historical high of $7.26 trillion. Analysts hold the view that this substantial inflow of funds may stimulate the next round of rallies for Bitcoin and other alternative coins.
Coinbase's Institutional Research Director, David Duong, stated that as the Federal Reserve further reduces interest rates, retail funds may shift from money market funds to stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other assets. Jack Ablin, the Chief Investment Officer at Cresset, pointed out that if the yield of money market funds decreases from 4.5% to 4.25% or 4%, investors will reallocate funds to stocks and cryptocurrencies.
