2025.04.15 22:48:31

On April 15th, the DeFi fixed income platform Treehouse Finance successfully completed a new round of financing. The specific financing amount remains undisclosed. The token valuation has reached $4 billion. This round of financing adopted the SAFT structure. Treehouse Finance did not disclose the identities of its main investors but referred to them as "the venture capital arm of one of the largest life insurance and financial services companies with assets exceeding $500 billion." It seems that the investor is MassMutual Ventures, which also participated in Treehouse's seed round of financing. When interviewed, MassMutual Ventures declined to make any comments. Other participants in the latest round of financing include Ethena's Guy Young, QCP Capital's Darius Sit, Paxos's Rich Teo, Etherscan's Matthew Tan, Selini Capital's Jordi Alexander, and former Point72 Asset Management's Michael Ashby from Algoquant, along with other angel investors. Treehouse's previous $18 million seed round of financing was completed three years ago (March 2022) and also followed the SAFT structure. Treehouse's core products consist of Decentralized Oracle Rate (DOR) and tAssets (Treehouse Assets). DOR is currently in the testing phase, and the mainnet is expected to be launched in June.

A new SSV proposal aims to slash its budget significantly, shifting from an expansion strategy to "maintenance first".

SSV Labs recently submitted the DIP-59 proposal, requesting an extension of network management authorization to June 30, 2027, along with major adjustments to its budget and work scope. The proposal marks SSV’s shift from an expansion strategy to a “maintenance-first” approach amid market and funding pressures. On the technical roadmap, the second half of 2026 will focus on completing the Boole network fork and supporting Ethereum’s ePBS upgrade; the first half of 2027 will enter a pure maintenance period with no new product development. Financially, SSV Labs has scaled back its funding requests: it is seeking 1.5 million USDC for 2026, and 2.7 million SSV tokens (including an option conversion mechanism) for the first half of 2027. The proposal waives certain previously due outstanding funds and requires a $900,000 asset as payment collateral.

Fidelity settles California crypto withdrawal probe for $500,000, requiring advance notice for retail wallet transfers while exempting IRA accounts.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced on October 16 that his office has reached a $500,000 settlement with Fidelity Digital Assets, National Association, the successor entity to Fidelity Digital Asset Services. The settlement addresses restrictions Fidelity previously imposed on California retail customers transferring cryptocurrency off its platform, which regulators deemed potentially violated California’s 1990 Commodity Law. Under that statute, certain speculative commodity contracts are restricted unless the buyer obtains physical delivery within a set timeframe, and state authorities view the ability to withdraw cryptocurrency as the functional equivalent of such delivery. From November 2022 to April 2025, California customers could trade cryptocurrency on Fidelity’s platform but were barred from sending assets directly to external wallets. Fidelity attributed the restriction to its then-regulator, the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS), failing to grant required approval. The approval was secured in April 2025, and the transfer function was extended to all California retail customers in June 2025.

Rosenblatt initiates coverage on Robinhood with a Buy rating and a $135 target price; JPMorgan raised its target price for the stock to $115 on the same day.

Investment bank and prime broker Rosenblatt Securities analyst Chris Brendler initiated coverage on Robinhood (HOOD) on Oct. 20, assigning a buy rating and $135 price target, which implies roughly 37% upside from the stock’s prior closing price. On the same day, JPMorgan raised its target price from $103 to $115 but maintained a neutral rating. As a result, Robinhood’s shares rose around 4.16% in Oct. 21 trading, closing near $102.29, with market participants focusing on the two firms’ divergence on valuation and growth prospects. Brendler described Robinhood as a “generational growth story” in his report, noting it has evolved from its origins as a commission-free trading app into a comprehensive financial platform covering brokerage, retirement accounts, credit cards, futures, index options and crypto assets, adding the market still underestimates the maturity of this transformation. He cited factors supporting a higher valuation premium than traditional brokerage peers: the core brokerage business continues to gain market share even at scale, the Pattern Day Trading regulatory reform removed key restrictions on high-value active clients, plus accelerated international expansion, deepened product lines, and a relatively fixed operating cost structure. By contrast, JPMorgan’s $115 target price reflects some recognition of recent business momentum, but its neutral rating signals caution on valuation levels and long-term sustainability. Wall Street’s overall consensus rating for Robinhood is “moderate buy” or “buy,” with an average target price in the $130–$135 range. Most analysts are optimistic about its growth potential from platform expansion and product diversification, though some warn of its high volatility and relatively elevated valuation multiples. The rating update comes ahead of Robinhood’s scheduled third-quarter earnings release on Oct. 27.
