U.S. Democrats plan to continue advancing the CLARITY Act, which would grant the SEC broader regulatory authority and restrict Trump’s crypto activities.

Crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett broke the news on social media, citing three industry sources who spoke with Democratic congressional staffers: House Democrats are discussing a plan to expand the Crypto Investor and Consumer Rights Act — a 2025 amendment Rep. Maxine Waters proposed to the CLARITY Act — into a broader crypto "market structure" bill for the next Congress. The proposal would combine two sets of provisions: original Democratic CLARITY Act language that Waters introduced in the House (which failed to pass), and terms Senate Democrats struck with Republicans ahead of September’s cloture vote. Discussions reportedly include granting the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a larger role in overseeing crypto markets, while limiting the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)’s role. Additional ethics rules are also likely to be added to restrict crypto activities by President Trump and other federal officials. Republicans have labeled the measure a "messaging bill" — legislation intended solely to communicate political stances, with little practical chance of being enacted.

FERC approves crypto miner MARA's acquisition of the Long Ridge natural gas power plant.

According to a post by Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at VanEck, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved Bitcoin miner MARA Holdings’ (MARA) acquisition of Long Ridge natural gas power assets (Case No. EC26-92). Sigel noted that objections raised by the Market Monitoring Unit (IMM) related to BlackRock and Vanguard were rejected, and FERC also refused to condition the approval on keeping the power plant’s output in the PJM grid. Per his breakdown, the deal’s enterprise value is approximately $1.512 billion, corresponding to ~0.5 GW of natural gas generation capacity (485 MW approved output, 505 MW nameplate capacity) and ~$144 million in annual adjusted EBITDA, translating to a valuation of around 10.5x. Recent PJM gas power plant transactions are valued at roughly 7x, putting the core plant assets at ~$1 billion; MARA’s ~$500 million overpayment covers land, gas wells, rail assets, and expansion options. MARA will retain approximately $900 million in Long Ridge’s debt, and needs ~$610 million in cash, which it plans to cover with a ~$600 million Bitcoin-backed loan drawn in August. The deal’s external deadline is November 30. Sigel pointed out that MARA has referenced a total AI load of ~600 MW at the site, including ~200 MW of existing grid-connected load. It remains unclear whether the expansion will proceed via a Starwood joint venture and whether MARA can retain up to a 50% stake. The next key catalyst is likely the signing of a lease around the deal’s closing.

Google’s November security bulletin patched over 200 vulnerabilities, including a critical zero-click remote code execution flaw, urging Android users to upgrade as soon as possible.

Google recently released the November 2026 Android Security Bulletin, patching over 200 total vulnerabilities. The most severe flaw is CVE-2026-58868, a critical-severity heap buffer overflow leading to out-of-bounds write in the Framework component, specifically in the onOutputReceived function of FrameDecoder.cpp. This zero-click vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary code remotely without user interaction or additional permissions, potentially granting full control over affected devices. Google has not confirmed in-the-wild exploitation of the flaw, nor has a public proof-of-concept (PoC) been disclosed. Affected Android versions include 14, 15, 16, 16 QPR2, and 17. Patches are rolled out in two tiers: - Security Patch Level ≥ 2026-11-01: includes fixes for Framework and System components such as CVE-2026-58868; - Security Patch Level ≥ 2026-11-05: covers all vulnerabilities in this update, including kernel and chipset issues from vendors like MediaTek and Qualcomm. SlowMist CISO 23pds noted that if this vulnerability is exploited in the wild, the impact will be extremely severe. Android devices account for roughly 70% of global smartphones, so large-scale exploitation could lead to widespread device compromise. Users are advised to immediately check and upgrade their systems: navigate to Settings → About Phone → Android Version to confirm the Security Patch Level is at 2026-11-05 or higher. Rollout times may vary across device manufacturers, so users are recommended to prioritize upgrading to the full patch level.

The company posted a net profit of approximately $126 million for the quarter, compared to a net loss of $57.2 million in the prior quarter; adjusted EBITDA came in at around $221 million, versus an adjusted EBITDA loss of $45 million in Q2. For mining operations, Q3 mining revenue was roughly $63.4 million, a slight decrease from $67 million in Q2, with total Bitcoin mined at about 891, down from 932 in Q2. Gross profit stood at $25.8 million, with a gross margin of 41%—lower than the 49% recorded in Q2—driven primarily by seasonal increases in electricity costs. The per-Bitcoin mining cost for the quarter was approximately $42,100, compared to $36,500 in Q2. As of September 30, the company owned roughly 89,242 mining rigs, with a hashrate of 28.1 EH/s. On the strategic reserves front, the firm’s Bitcoin holdings rose from about 8,002 as of June 30 to around 8,427, adding roughly 425 coins for a 5% quarter-over-quarter increase. The Satoshis Per Share metric grew from ~10,989 to ~11,572, also a 5% rise. American Bitcoin noted it did not issue new shares via an ATM (at-the-market) program during the quarter, nor did it purchase Bitcoin on the open market. Its holdings include approximately 3,090 Bitcoin pledged under Bitmain mining rig purchase agreements. American Bitcoin is a subsidiary of Hut 8 Corp., with Eric Trump serving as its co-founder and chief strategy officer.

BitMart Founder Says Security Team Is Severely Understaffed

According to Cointelegraph, Sheldon Xia, founder of crypto exchange BitMart — which has announced its shutdown and restructuring — stated in a post that following the latest hack, the platform’s security team is "severely understaffed" but remains committed to safeguarding user data and assets. Xia confirmed a new attack occurred on Monday, noting the amount involved is small without disclosing specific figures. Blockchain analytics firm Bitquery’s investigation found approximately $391,000 in suspicious transfers from BitMart-associated wallets across three blockchains; the funds are linked to wallets involved in the November 2 theft of over $46 million from Brazilian exchange Mercado Bitcoin, supporting the initial assessment that the same group may be responsible. Xia also added that threats targeting employees and alleged retaliation by former staff have made retaining key technical positions more difficult. BitMart previously announced in July it would halt trading on August 26 and cease operations in January 2027. The restructuring plan unveiled Monday includes three user recovery options: liquid asset distribution, recovery-linked tokens, and others, with plans to seek court approval in December or January.
