OpenAI’s fundraising target has plunged by $10 billion, with its valuation also cut to $1.25 trillion.

Beating AI News Flash: According to a Financial Times report, OpenAI has cut its target size for the latest funding round by $10 billion and is now rushing to finalize the deal. Earlier sell-offs in public-market AI stocks, combined with the upcoming IPO of its top rival Anthropic, have cast a shadow over the round. ChatGPT developer OpenAI originally planned to raise $30 billion at a $1.4 trillion valuation last month, marketing the deal as the final chance for investors to take a stake in OpenAI ahead of its planned IPO next year. At the time, OpenAI cited rapid revenue growth since July to justify the valuation, which nearly doubled from the previous $852 billion. However, as tech stocks faced heavy sell-offs and market concerns over the scale and growth rate of AI spending intensified, OpenAI began lowering its funding expectations. Multiple sources familiar with the matter disclosed that OpenAI is now seeking to raise around $20 billion at a $1.25 trillion valuation. OpenAI set the investor subscription deadline for last Friday. Sources added that the first close of the funding round is expected to be less than $20 billion, as some investors have reduced their subscription commitments.

Claude Max 20x has been renamed to Ultra, with the 5-hour limit removed, though its weekly usage quota remains 10 times that of the Pro tier.

Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic adjusts Claude subscription plans. The $100/month Max 5x tier is renamed to Max, while the $200/month Max 20x tier is rebranded as Ultra, with prices remaining unchanged. The Ultra tier also eliminates its previous 5-hour short-term usage limit. Previously, users could be forced to wait hours to resume Claude access even if their weekly quota was unspent, due to excessive calls within a short window. Now, users can use the service in concentrated sessions without this restriction. The new policy is rolling out in batches to most existing Ultra subscribers. New accounts still have the 5-hour limit temporarily; they must undergo automatic system verification to prevent fraud and abuse, after which the limit will be lifted automatically, and users will receive an email alert. Notably, the total weekly quota has not increased. The original "20x" designation referred to the 5-hour quota being 20 times that of the Pro tier, not the weekly allowance. The Ultra tier still only offers 10 times the Pro tier’s weekly quota, and the Fable model has a separate weekly limit.

Binance: Withdrawals are expected to resume in phases before 13:33 tomorrow, and a proof-of-reserves snapshot is scheduled to be taken before 15:33 today.

Binance released its second security incident update announcement early this morning, disclosing two key subsequent timelines. Issued at 3:33 AM (UTC+8) today, the announcement states that the exchange plans to conduct its first Proof of Reserves (PoR) snapshot within 12 hours of release, with results to be published by November 2. Meanwhile, its technical team aims to gradually restore withdrawal services in approximately 34 hours, subject to security check progress. Calculated from the announcement’s release time, Binance targets completing the first PoR snapshot by 15:33 today, and launching phased withdrawal restoration by 13:33 tomorrow. As of now, roughly 6 hours and 20 minutes remain until the scheduled PoR snapshot, and about 28 hours and 20 minutes until the targeted withdrawal restoration. Binance previously noted it has prepared over $6.34 billion in corporate funds: around $5 billion worth of affected token assets are already in place, covering ~80% of the stolen funds, while the remainder is being acquired via on-exchange and over-the-counter (OTC) channels. Separately, approximately $3 billion in affected assets have been frozen on-chain.

Qatar held marathon-style talks in Tehran, which will continue in Doha, Qatar on Saturday.

According to diplomatic sources cited by Axios, Qatari mediators held more than 12 hours of talks in Tehran on Friday, seeking to broker a deal to restart direct negotiations between the U.S. and Iran and avoid a war after the midterm elections. The talks will resume on Saturday in Doha, Qatar. A diplomatic source said that during Friday’s full-day talks, Qatari mediators maintained regular contact with the White House. “The negotiations have made positive progress. Both the U.S. and Iran are still working to reach an agreement,” the source stated. Qatar is urging the U.S. and Iran to agree on a series of reciprocal measures to be implemented in the coming days, which would enable both sides to return to direct talks on Iran’s nuclear program and other issues. A U.S. official noted that two conflicting demands have so far blocked the negotiations: the Trump administration insists Iran make concessions on nuclear issues as part of resuming talks, while Iran requires the U.S. to first lift maritime blockades, unfreeze funds, and allow it to sell oil. Qatar is trying to persuade Iran to allow UN inspectors access to its damaged nuclear facilities as a confidence-building measure, while the U.S. views this as a condition for easing sanctions on Iran.

Apple's market capitalization has overtaken NVIDIA to reclaim the title of the world's most valuable company, with its relatively prudent investment strategy highlighting its resilience.

According to data from BIT Stock Platform, Apple (AAPL.O) closed Friday with a market capitalization of $5.03 trillion, surpassing Nvidia (NVDA.O)’s $4.93 trillion to become the world’s most valuable publicly listed company. This marks Apple’s first recapture of the title from Nvidia since the end of July. On the day, Apple’s stock fell 1.2%, while Nvidia’s dropped 4.2%. Recent earnings results from Intel (INTC.O) and Amazon (AMZN.O) have amplified market concerns about returns on massive AI-related capital expenditures, while Alphabet (GOOG.O) and Meta Platforms (META.O) have also faced sell-offs recently. In contrast, Apple’s relatively restrained infrastructure investments and strong free cash flow have enabled it to show relative resilience amid the tech stock correction. Year-to-date, Apple’s stock has climbed 27%, while Nvidia’s has declined more than 10% over the past month.
