Beijing, China has cracked down on the first pyramid scheme case involving virtual currency, with the involved company fined and confiscated 930,000 yuan.

Haidian District Market Supervision Bureau of Beijing recently handled the city’s first illegal case of assisting pyramid scheme activities using blockchain and virtual currency technologies, fining and confiscating a total of over 930,000 yuan from a tech company. The involved firm provided outsourced services including technical operation and maintenance, marketing, exchange connection and maintenance for a public blockchain. This public blockchain previously launched the "Atomic Plan" and "Hathaway Plan", requiring participants to invest funds to qualify for membership, and offering rebates based on the number of new members they recruit. Regulatory authorities determined that the company, despite being aware the relevant projects were suspected pyramid schemes, continued to provide technical and operational support, facilitating fund flows and the spread of pyramid scheme activities. Mianbi open-sourced two OCR models: the 1.3B model is responsible for text recognition, while the 2B model is dedicated to error correction.

Beating AI Insight News: Face Intelligence releases and open-sources the MiniCPM-OCR series. The 1.3B parameter MiniCPM-OCR 1.0 can recognize handwritten text, complex tables, formulas, as well as skewed and curved documents. It ranks first in four out of six OCR benchmark tests. On an RTX 5090, its processing speed reaches 1.217 pages per second, approximately 49% faster than PaddleOCR-VL-1.6. Another 2B parameter model, MiniCPM-OCR Jev, is dedicated to error checking: it verifies OCR results against original images and scores text, formulas, and tables separately. High-scoring content can be automatically approved, while questionable results are sent for manual review. It can also audit outputs from other models such as GLM-OCR and PaddleOCR, eliminating the need to replace existing OCR systems. This design targets the most labor-intensive part of the OCR workflow: machines can process documents quickly, but staff still have to manually check for missing characters, line errors, or misrecognized numbers. Face Intelligence’s internal experiments on 900 manually annotated image blocks show that when the accuracy of automatically approved content approaches 100%, up to 85% of legal document areas, 56.2% of financial invoices, and 35.1% of complex documents require no manual verification.

Institutions: The Federal Reserve still has a possibility of raising interest rates in December.

Catalyst Fund Senior Portfolio Manager Larry Holzenthaler said that after the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady as expected, markets still widely anticipate another rate hike in December. With two dissenting votes, a December rate hike is now seen as a done deal. Comments from Fed official Waller also suggest the Fed’s primary priority is price stability, not the labor market. After hearing Waller’s remarks, one must not take for granted that the Fed has concluded its rate hike cycle. According to LSEG data, money markets are pricing in an 83% probability of a 25 basis point rate hike at the December policy meeting. Source: Jin10

ByteDance’s TRAE has launched a developer personal assistant that can retain historical decisions across projects and schedule multiple tasks simultaneously.

Beating AI Flash News: ByteDance’s TRAE today launched its developer personal assistant "TRAE Bao", which focuses on cross-project long-term memory and multi-task scheduling. Developers no longer need to repeatedly provide context or switch between multiple AI sessions to coordinate different tasks. TRAE Bao is split into two modules: "Global Assistant" and "Project Assistant". The Global Assistant handles cross-project searches of historical conversations, tasks, and deliverables, extracting past technical solutions, constraints, and decisions. For instance, when adding permission management to a new product, it can first locate previously implemented solutions to identify reusable ones, then hand over the work to the Project Assistant for further development. The Project Assistant is responsible for specific execution. When a requirement involves front-end, back-end, testing, and documentation, it can break down tasks, arrange parallel development, and organize joint debugging and verification based on dependencies. Developers can assign other tasks as needed, and the assistant will uniformly report progress, issues, and results. Currently, TRAE Bao mainly runs local tasks on desktop, supporting remote command input via WeChat and Feishu. Cloud tasks and standalone mobile capabilities are still pending future launch.
