Insight Beating AI Flash News: Anthony Morris, creator of the Claude Code desktop edition, has announced his departure from Anthropic. Claude Code was initially primarily operated via the command line. Morris spearheaded the development of its desktop version, which enables users to manage AI programming tasks through a visual interface, run multiple Agent sessions, track execution progress, and review code modifications. On October 14, the team had just rolled out a major update that further enhanced multi-task parallelism and session management. At that time, Morris was introducing the new features and noted the team would continue refining the tool based on user feedback. In his farewell post, Morris said he built the desktop version out of his belief that everyone can be a creator. He described leaving his colleagues and the product he poured his effort into as the toughest decision of his career. He also joked that he finally has time to play GTA VI, adding he will announce his next plans soon. Notably, another Claude Code engineer, Thariq Shihipar, announced his departure earlier. He worked at Anthropic for over a year, stating he plans to take a break before starting his next role. Neither of the two disclosed specific reasons for their departure.
